That's a pretty "bold" written statement.

It will however not change my view and experiences with loophole scopes and service.

I have one of the fakes on a 22 Hornet, it works very well, and has for close to a decade.

I seriously doubt it would handle much more recoil, other than "maybe" something in the 223 rem range.

I've seen fakes used on heavier recoil rifles, and it's not just a matter of "if" it's going to fail, but when.

I dont disagree with your analysis of suther and joel, but to throw bearhunter into the same pot is a bit puzzling.

I may not always agree with bearhunter, but for the most part he is spot on. As for his life's experience and knowledge its nothing short of amazing.

I've just ordered a fake Leopold scope of Ali Express. I'm sure it can't be worse than the "two originals" which were crap out of the box.

At least there's no US tariffs on it (y)

I think that's a terrible thing to do... to deliberately buy a known counterfeit scope. To support that seller.

A few things to look for:
The Gold Ring is not a proper gold colour
Laser marks on the gold ring are not centered
Laser marks are not as crisp
Check under the turret caps - Leupold does not use any gold colouring on new optics under the caps
Tactical reticles in a hunting optic
Packaging looks off
More than one optic for sale has the same serial number

We have encountered hard-to-identify VX-3i 3.5-10x40 and LCO's recently that are very well done.

When in doubt, call us or Leupold.

Lots of the fakes show incorrectly placed zoom rings as well. Leupold never put an X on the zoom ring facing forward either. 3x 9x etc.

I see quite a few fakes on the EE here with guys posting them as genuine. Most dont care.

The seller didn't claim it's a genuine Leupold scope.

The ad said Leupold "Style" scope. So, even if that name is printed on the scope I'm aware of what I'm getting.

I also will not claim any warranty with the "service" outfit here in Canada or be #####ing "I got a counterfeit scope"...
