Agree, because one could take advantage of the bullet weight flexibility that the 308 affords for larger game.If we’re going practical I’d choose .308 over the 6.5

Now you lost me. (??)I was thinking of the legal requirements

There are some animals in Canada and elsewhere which one can legally hunt with the 308 that they cannot with the 6.5 Creedmoor
That was the practicality that came to mind for me. In the sense that one could give you more options than the other in that way
BC has the bison regulation, 175gr minimum bullet weight + 2000 ft lbs energy @ 100M
Basically weeds out the 270 & 30-30 Win
Stupid regulation that doesn't factor in bullet construction. A 308 Win 175gr Sierra Matchking is legal, a 270 Win with a 140gr Barnes TSX is illegal
And that’s exactly the reason why I’d choose the .308. Not to mention plethora of different projectiles avail to it as wellAgree, because one could take advantage of the bullet weight flexibility that the 308 affords for larger game.
A 308 would be perfect for those who own only one rifle for BG.And that’s exactly the reason why I’d choose the .308. Not to mention plethora of different projectiles avail to it as well
better YET a 30-06A 308 would be perfect for those who own only one rifle for BG.
Found them!Wonder if these 220 gr factory loads are available here.
Careful, Yer in .375 Big Bore country now with thatI’ve got some 220 Hornady RN s loaded up in 308 Win to try out ! I think they will be about 2200 fps with my 20 “![]()
Or even more versatile a 338-06 for the one-rifle hunter. 180-200 grain for deer-sized critters out to 400+ yards and 250 for big stuff up close.better YET a 30-06![]()

Sounds like the 7MM Remington Magnum shooters.Had one in the safe for 33 years now. My buddies dad suggested it when we went moose hunting when I was 15. He had stories of shooting moose across a lake at 830 yards and dropped em in there tracks.true of course……it was a .270win!
