Exactly. Probably engineered for 30-06 velocities. Might not expand from a 30-30.What velocities are those made to expand at? Wouldn't that be pretty much on the bottom edge?
Looks like it is a very questionable idea.
so many good 170 gr bullets made for the 30-30-30 what do you hope to achieve
It's more about the bullet construction than the weight. The 180gr RN was designed for higher velocities like the 30-06.Mine works very well with160gr Leverevolution.
Expected MV would be maxed out at 2100 fps.
125 yards is about 1600 fps.
Some 170 grain factory ammo is 2200 fps at the muzzle as well, so the idea isn't totally out to lunch, with the right bullet.

The key is the Phillps screwdriver!Yup key isn't the bullet weight or caliber. Key is its meant to be used in 30-06 etc
On the OTHER side of things, always wondered why people who want to shoot 150gr bullets from their 7.62x39 use spitzers made to work at higher velocities instead of flat nosed bullets used for its near ballistic twin, the 30-30

I sense another bear defense thread coming....so many good 170 gr bullets made for the 30-30-30 what do you hope to achieve
Fixed it for you.I sense another zombie bear defense thread coming....
Wrong. Every politician knows the 22 ga is best for bear.Do Zombie Bears hibernate?
And… as we all know… Shotguns are the superior tool for bear defence.
