My new Shiloh Sharps and another horror story.

Purolator won't accept guns. I was trying to ship a rifle to a buyer and thought I would send it by Purolator and when they asked what it was, because of the insurance I wanted they said "No thanks". I went up to the post office and no questions were asked. I have had good luck with the post office but have also heard some horror stories. Kevin.
I took the money from Canada Post and bought my boy a video camera for his film class.
I repaired the stock myself by boring a hole up inside the stock and filling it with epoxy.
Then I filled the crack and put a 3.5" stainless steel screw in and tightened it up real tight.
I also put a smaller screw through the top.
Here's a pic of the repair.
I'd pretty much have to point the crack out for someone to notice it and it is probably stronger now than it was before they broke it.
I drew red lines where the screws go through the stock and I circled the crack.
Scarecrow I do reload, thats how you get one hole groups with these rifles,,, sometimes.

Thanks, I couldn't see going through all of the hassle of sending it back to Shiloh if I could do a good enough repair.

I agree, My tenessee flintlock arrived looking like some one took a knife and scratched at it. Like you, rather then sending it back I stripped it and refinished it.
Those rifles are beautiful high end items, you would think the employees there would treat them with more respect.
Seems with canada post its hit and miss.
They have a account with the transportation company I work for and the way these guys speak when calling in for vans.....yikes...
Theres no doubt they dont care as most of the ones I speak to can hardly string together a coherant sentence, and the few times they do its usually quite rude .....And those are the shift managers
Aside from that, FINE FINE rifles you have there, ready to give you and your family a lifetime of service.

I just wanna say,....... I wish I had those beautiful works of art! Congrats mate! I hope you can get that stock replaced and I'd be talking to a lawyer if it were me!
I'll tell you folks, I won't send anything of value through our postal system! It's just not worth the hassle! I always use UPS for anything I'd like to treasure.

The rifle is fixed and you can't tell it was broken, it's fine.
Canada Post did pay for the damage to the tune of $2200
The thing about UPS is that they charge a huge brokerage fee, and they mail the bill to you after.
It's a real kick in the nuts.

Shipping is why I went to the border to pick mine up. Dealing with Denise and Leroy @ Leroy's Big Valley Guns, and Danny Champanion was excellent.
I know you're a little outta the way for that, but Alberta/Montana makes a nice holiday!

Actually I'm thinking of hunting elk in Alberta and I may just take the rifle down to Shiloh myself.
That wood would make awesome knife handles and Kirk at Shiloh said that I can dig through his scrap bin and take all of the scraps I want.
I'm not taking another chance with this rifle.
