Are the Norinco M14 bolts too soft?

OK FELLAS;
Marstar and many others imported the Norinco M-14 (M-305) rifles over the past few years....

However Marstar did apply a very strick new QC criteria a few years ago, this is quite obvious in the comments by many folks out there.... What Norinco did with what we would not accept, I do not know....

YES Marstar has purchased everything left over there, yes they are being assembled into rifles....

Here's what the CFC has to say about the origin of my M14ses....

002096 - Imported by Bell Lifestyle Products and Distributors in January 2005
004739 - Imported by Bell Lifestyle Products and Distributors in May 2005
008568 - Imported by Bell Lifestyle Products and Distributors in March 2007
002194 - Imported by Lever Arms in December 2001
001199 - Imported by Marstar in September 2003
007926 - Imported by Marstar in May 2006

JohnOne: Is there any affiliation between Marstar and BLPD?

Hey Brobee, how do you find out this info from the CFC.

I just phoned them up, explained what I was looking for, gave them my license number, and then went serial number by serial number through those guns registered to me to look up who was on record for importing them and when. The lady I spoke with was quite helpful....

Brobee

Ok, thanks Brobee. I will have to phone them. I am starting to think I have one of the ones imported by someone other than Marstar.

Quote from Johnone ...
" ... Marstar did apply a very strick new QC criteria a few years ago,"

John, if the QC checklists sent out with the new firearms are any indication, you need to check up on the guys who fill in the checklists.

When I got my brand new Norinco M-305 from Marstar last year, it came with an inspection sheet, with all the check marks in the right place. However, the MARSTAR inspection sheet did NOT show:

1.] that the front sight on my brand new rifle was about 7 degrees too far to the left = Over tightened = required barrel reindexing.

2.] did not show that the headspace was .010 thou greater than 7.62 NATO GO .... which is .010" greater than SAMMI specs for .308 Win NO GO on NEW .308 Win rifles.

3.] did not show that the rear sight would not hold windage adjusments.

These deficincies are common to many of the Norc M-14 type rifles [ to be fair, this list and more applies to MOST of the other suppliers, not just Marstar ].

I know that $399 is a fantastic price for a stripped forged M-14 reciever, let alone a complete rifle. And I know from experience that a few dollars in parts and labor can make these $ 399 rifles into superb firearms.

HOWEVER,
in my personal opinion, the guy who put all the check marks on my Norinco inspection report probably never even looked at the firearm.

Are the Norinco M-305 rifles in the new lot going to address these common deficiencies??

If so, I'll gladly send you $399 PLUS shipping if you send me Norinco M305 rifle that is guaranteed to have the barrel indexed correctly, a rear sight that works, and proper 7.62 NATO headspace.
Sincerely,
[;{)

No kidding, then how come Bell was bringing M305 rifles into Canada in fall 2007?
They are either making the rifles right now (I doubt) or you missed a few from those "everything". I got nothing but good service from Marstar, but facts are facts....

cia stuff is UNMARKED- no stampings, engravings, or anything of that sort- or it's generic- like an isreali marked uzi-what may give it away is when it shows up in a "wrong" or uncommon area of the world- which is everywhere these days

Should be able to confirm it easily.

Any GNZs in Afghanistan should see lots of Chinese AKs. Those AKs are real CIA stuff - ordered and transported by CIA with Saudi money and made in China, to support "Holy War" against Russian.

No sure what kind of marking on those Aks.

Cheers,

Michael

BROBEE:
"JohnOne: Is there any affiliation between Marstar and BLPD?"
Let me put it this way, Bell is a very important customer of Marstar Canada....
John

FIRE & OTHERS:
I will attempt to explain this AGAIN....
Just because other importers received rifles in 2007 DOES NOT mean that they ordered or purchased them in that year.... They may have been ordered as much as a year prior to shipping....
It is entirely likely that shipments received by an importer in early 2007 were in fact spoken for in early to mid 2006.

"2.] "did not show that the headspace was .010 thou greater than 7.62 NATO GO .... which is .010" greater than SAMMI specs for .308 Win NO GO on NEW .308 Win rifles. "
WHO measured this ? do they have proper instruments for 7.62 nato automatic weapons.... I was not aware that nybody outside our military had these instruments in Canada, I would appreciate knowing the individual's name so we can make use of him ....

"Are the Norinco M-305 rifles in the new lot going to address these common deficiencies??"
Yes we have gone over these issues and will do our very best to rectify the issues you have raised....
Will we garantee that the headspace has been checked here in Canada No we will not.... it is simply not practical....
May I suggest you consult with HUNGRY on this matter, he is, in my humble opinion one of the most knowledgeable people I have met, he has extensive technical and practical know how when it comes to the M-14....
Hungry here: I'm not worthy, I'm not worthy..... LOL

IF you are that worried about the Norinco why not purchase an original M-14 ? I have a couple available

ELTORRO;
I think I fully explained this in another reply....
People who had existing contracts had them honored, however NO further orders were accepted after we purchased everything there....
Please recheck your "facts" before coming to such unsupported conclusions....
