IDPA Targets (Cardboard)

Support each other ...

Email it over and I'll get it posted on the website.

So you've confirmed multigun for the July 19 match?

As for targets: http://www. targetbarn.com/ - pricing is about as good as you'll get up here, delivery is quick and reliable, always have stock, etc.

???

And I suppose you get your groceries in the USA too? Maybe we should all just pack up and go the the US to shoot too? Hmmmm on second thought, not for me, just too far to go and there is the whole Iraq thing. Guess i will just support fellow Canadiansx and their Businesses and hope that by pulling together we can work to keep our privilage to own and use firearms for sport her in Canada ... :)

OK maybe a bit over the top, but we are at a critical point ... pull together or loose it all bit by bit!

There are two official IDPA target suppliers in Canada.

Foothills Firearms Training and Consulting out of Calgary, Alberta and Click 1 Sports out of Mac Tier, Ontario.

Both are subject to the drivers of the marketplace. Buy from the source that provides you with the best pricing and service. If it happens to be south of the border than economics should be your deciding factor, all else being equal.

From comments I have received both Canadian outlets provide very good service. Pricing may or may not be an issue given your proximity to southern suppliers who may be able to get their pricing down due to volumes of targets produced but shipping these days is not cheap and is going to get more expensive with the recent rise in fuel prices.

Buying Canadian at any price is not going to fly in todays marketplace and the target suppliers know this or should.

Take Care

Bob

Multigun is for Aug match as we don;t want to take away from HAHA's annual one in July :)
Ohh I didn't notice that Sharon is hosting a ODPL match.. New addition to the ODPL ranks?????
I'll bring it up at Galt for a vote for July or August as I don;t want to have back to back Multiguns if possible....

Shipping from Targetbarn is dreadful with the new shipping charges the USPS now does internationally :(....
I buy target pasters from them by the tens of thousands because with shipping & duty they still very competative, larger stuff worries me however with shipping...

If it was half the price, twice as reliable, and quicker/easier (one web-based order form, credit-card payment ), then I would.

The last match I ran nearly had no targets, because the Canadian supplier I was dealing with became non-communicative after stumbling around about delivery dates.

With most Canadian suppliers, I have to make a good number of phone calls, hoping for a return message (because there is usually no-one on the phone) just to establish price, availability, shipping and payment options. Quite often the return message never comes and emails go unanswered. There are exceptions (Hirsch Precision, TSE, and so on), but this is a typical experience in my books.

For exampe, take your website. There is no listed price. There is apparently no online ordering. You don't have any card logos, so likely don't take them. In and of itself that's not a show-stopper, but there is no indication of what type of payment you do take. Regarding price, most likely - and I'd be happy to be proved wrong - you're asking about $1/target, which is well in excess of the Target Barn cost. If I am wrong, why is the price not on the site, requiring me, and every other potential customer, to take extra steps just to establish it?

As for supporting Canadian business simply to support them - the "critical point" - you've used the same argument that Glock retailers and distributors used in Canada for a good long time - until Questar showed them up and forced the distribution chain to improve. Prices are now much lower.

Show me a moderately priced, easy-to-order, usually-in-stock cardboard target supplier in Canada and I'll gladly use it, 'official' or otherwise.

Starting with Jarlath's original question, "Where is the best place in Canada to purchase IDPA targets?", as far as I know the answer is "from your Canadian keyboard with your Canadian credit card".

The July HAHA won't be a multigun and I'm still finalizing dates with the executive. Last year's was great... and so much work the various volunteers swore to not do it again. So we'll have handgun-only for the forseeable future.

Sharon is run by D. Parkes, who is always welcome to run or participate in ODPL matches.

Whenever you guys figure out which match is which, let me know.

PS: didn't know about target barn's shipping charges going up - that may alter my original advice.

why order from the states.... we have fine dealers here in canada, both of which are within a penny of each other. They have both coasts taken care of, dragoon here in the west and click1 out in the south.

I will stick with what I know... the only problem I had was pasters and or matching tape. which from what I understand both providors are going to be providing in the near future.

I agree to the onsite web ordering, I am a big fan of ecommerce sites where I can just click and go, I am an impulse buyer and ecommerce has helped a lot for me :) So yeah, get a full featured ecommerce going :D
