What's the best semi-auto rimfire regardless of cost?

Fun in the woods?

No question: Browning Buckmark Sporter Carbine wearing a Bushnell XLP holosight. (Also happens to be my go-to rifle for plinking expeditions)

Freaky accurate right out of the box, handles and shoulders like no other, looks that turn heads wherever it goes....you really can't go wrong.

Now to sit back and wait for the 10/22 lemmings to show up and try to convince you otherwise.....;)

I don't think you can go wrong with a Ruger 10/22 custom. Just buy a few afermarket parts such as a barrel ($120 or so), stock ($100-$250), and some trigger parts such as a hammer (about $30 - lowers trigger pull from 8lbs down to about 3lbs), an extratror (about $10), magazine release ($10). I was out shooting my Ruger 10/22 today at 100 yards and had some 10 shot groups around 1" Most were around the 1.5" range though - still more than enough for hunting and plinking.

Out of the box I would probably choose a TC.

Remington 597 "Yellow Jacket" , Shoots great and for $500 its looks incredible.

Wow, now that's a cool looking .22. It just got moved to the top of the list.

There is only one best semi-auto rimfire regardless of cost. A custom Ruger 10/22 in whatever flavour(s) you want.

There is not a second choice that comes anywhere near what you can get with all the bells and whistles of a custom. Unless you go into anaphylactic shock when you touch one you would be a fool to go any other way.

Sorry I guess the thread ends here.

LMAO....You can't be serious.

I don't care HOW much "bling" you put on your 10/22, at the end of the day it will STILL have an aluminum reciever and No last shot hold-open, and a barrel held in place with a clamp instead of threaded/mated to the reciever....Not exactly "high end".

Lets see...350 for the gun, 250 for a barrel, 250 fpr a stoock, 150 for a trigger group = 1000.00

I hate to shatter your illusions, but take ANY semi from a 597 to an old Gevarm, and take it to any decent smith and give him the 800 bucks and tell him what you want, and he will give you so much more gun than the 10/22 it isn't funny.

Thread ended? With a 10/22? Don't think so :D

Magnum research makes a rimfire rifle "magnumlite". I have no personal experience with them, but they aint cheap so they'd better be good. Definitely not very many in canada though.

That TC right out of the box is actually a pretty decent gun. Bruno has a semi auto .22 that is in the $600.00 range that I am thinking should also be very good.:D
