Bass Pro .223 is in. Limits Imposed

I was prepared to buy all the ammunition today in stock, as a favour to a couple of friends that cannot make the trip all the time, I will post the outcome tomorrow from the phone call - side bar when I asked him to buy 25 cases of OO buck he had no problem with that.

The reason they put the limit on was because stores would come in and buy all the stock and resell it. Bass Pro sells the ammo for less than dealers can buy it wholesale. I don't have a problem with a 5 brick limit ( 1000 rounds ) providing they enforce it.
 
A little off track here. I bought a Colt 1911 last Sunday. Transfer was initiated on Monday and approved on Thursday.:D That's here in Ontario, and that was a VERY pleasant surprise.

Am not a store and I shoot alot in the warmer weather, and I have about 8 of us in the group who will go through about 2000rds when we go out and have some fun.

I couldnt even get 1 box while they had their 15% discount last month..
They didnt give out rainchecks....nothing..

2 skids gone....

and uhh.. They wonder why some customers walk in and buy 15 boxes?
Its not stores, its customers... some of us are fed up and walk out with 15-20boxes because WE know, there might not be a next time for AWHILE..

Do they think only stores buy 30 cases? How about fed customers who keep missing the shipments...?

It's a "regular stocked, regular priced" item.. Its not on sale... They wont give out rainchecks, so why have a limit?

What happens when I buy a .223 rifle from them? Do I have to go to another store for .223 ammo?


They obviously have no problem getting in shipments....

I live an hour and a half N of BP....I would LOVE to go and pick up 1-2000 rounds at a decent price, but every time I make the trip it is just to find out that someone had just cleaned out the last TWENTY cases! Not once, but 5 trips...It sucks.

Sorry, but that's just greed....and to the guys who are buying all of it? There are other people that would like to be able to buy this ammo once in a while.
 
I don't know why you guys are so pissed at guys who are stalking up. Go to the manager and pre-order the amount of ammo you want to buy. Possibly, leave them with a partial payment if you're so inclined.

Like any retail outlet, if they know they sell out of an item rather quickly that represents an opportunity for future sales.
 
Well, rather than complaining about the guys who buy more than 5 boxes when ammo is available at bass pro. Why not complain to bass pro that they should bring in more ammo and have shorter intervals between each delivery.

As some one else on the forum had said earlier.... "One person may come to buy ammo for a few people not just himself."

Lots of people drive at least an hour to get .223 at bass pro. Why should all of their friends have to make the trip too at todays fuel costs just because bass pro in Canada wants to make a new policy of 5 boxes that only applies to the remington UMC 223 ammo?
I dont see that limit on any other ammo or any other regularly priced item in the store.

Do the other bass pro stores in the U.S. have this policy of 5 boxes per person? Ofcourse NOT!
 
The 12 boxes we scored were distributed among 3 people.... the guy did tell us there was a 5 box limit, so I think they have been enforcing it.
 
I have been buying almost all my ammo from Wolf in Kingston; reloads. Never a problem and his prices are great. I buy 5,000 rounds at a time. Next order will include .223 ammo if he has it. Bought two mid size gunsafes to house the ammo alone at home. Bolted to the floor. Good luck trying to get the stuff out. Guns stored seperately in a ULC gunsafe. Why do I say this? Simple. That nasty business of the ammo registry in the stores like Bass Pro, Wally Mart and so on. It is a shopping list for thieves. (DUH?) So I make my guns AND my ammo as safe as possible by storing the stuff in real safes and surrounding it by a ULC central station alarm system. Now I have no worries going out and stocking up on ammo for my firearms and like I say... I generally buy 5 or 10 thousand rounds at a time. Just about time to re order of anyone interested in doing a club purchase in the GTA (Toronto) please visit the Wolf site and then PM me. We can get a club discount more than likely).

As far as I know Wolf does not carry 223 may be I am wrong, but their web site does not list any.

Any updates.

they said that they would call me when that stuff came in
what make it worse is that i was in toronto this weekend and couldent get over there :(

Seems like this fellas the only one, so far, that has a clue on limiting the anguish sustained by waiting for someone else (bass pro) to solve their problem! I reload all my ammo as well, I never have to rely on a store to get any type of ammo that they may not have, unless I am out of reloading supplies, then I have a multitude of options when I need more bullets. I can choose from about 6 different local stores, and if they're out of stock, I can always order online!:cool:
 
I've had problems before too trying to get 223 from BPS. Indeed the UMC stuff is priced well, and since I'm not reloading at the moment its my choice for putting holes in paper. But it would be nice to go in there and get atleast 60-100 rounds once in a while lol.
 
Is it much cheaper to reload these days??

see right there is your problem next time go in and get 2 to 3 thousand rounds and then when you have shot up half of it start looking for more.

seriously you guys complaining about others buying it all up........SUCK IT UP BUTTERCUP.

would you only put enough gas in your car to only get home........no you fill up and start looking for more gas when you look at the guage and it's getting below half..........costs the same amount to fill up the top half of the tank as it does the bottom half.

or do as I and many others do reload .....is it cheaper , not if you are only shooting a box or so a year but spread that money you are going to spend on reloading gear out over a few years of shooting and it makes it cheaper to shoot. Note that I never said that you will save money reloading ,you will just shoot more
