VZ-58s and more...FAQs are Post 1

Q: Considering this monster thread, what do you think of the VZ-58 type rifle?

  • It is a beauty as it comes, and a must have, since it drives Libs bonkers.

  • It is best pimped out and dressed up, a far cry from an NDP convention.

    Votes: 407 19.0%
  • It is true it was the first cool gun in the Cdn. market for a long while, but I'll pass.

  • It makes me think of snide remarks, as I am a gun snob and the 58 is affordable.

Managed to get 40 rounds through my 858 today with no issues. It's going to be a lot of fun.

One weird thing though, the charger guide is too wide to retain the charger. It just falls out of place. Is this the way they're supposed to be?

Stevo brought a good question. I was always wondering why the clip guide wouldn't not work as fine as my father's SKS.

At the time I wasn't aware of this website and I was expecting a bulletproof AK-style mil-spec kind of rifle and since my purchase what I found out is :

- DAMN GREMLIN (got it back from Wolverine but still do it occasionnaly)
- Non-chrome barrel on a rifle designated to shoot military corrosive ammo
- Stripper clip do not hold properly as it should for combat

Still a fun and affordable shooter but so much for the military proven design...

... You should have bought the restricted if you wanted the chrome lined barrel. They had to add the lame long barrel to appease the liberal jerkoffs.

I don't understand what problem you guys have with the stripper clip?

i shot 600 rds so far without a FTF (knock on wood.:D) so your other two negatives means very little to me.

i clean my non-chrome as if its a chrome cos im not a clean freak like other people and i dont use the charging clip cos i got arthritis. i pay more attention to storage and maintenace of the rifle than cleaning (i grease the carrier ramps to reduce wear on the sear diconnect) .

when you compare your two negative to the big picture , its small . the big pic is we are allowed to buy a cheap rifle like this while its cousin AK is banned.:dancingbanana:

Nice rifle you got there Curtton.

I think you are one of the most likely person to understand that each of us had different reasons for buying the CZ-858 in the first place and I think your reasons were as good as others. Mine was to leave it as it was and have the closest possible assault rifle without being restricted.

Anyway, does someone know what is the problem with the clip guide?

I'm getting my VZ 58 Krinked so I'll have pictures when its done...

I'm going different then what you seen ( Using the VZ, FSB moved flush to the gas block ) I'm having the FSB re mounted on the gas block like the Krinkov.

my cz858 is like stevo, clip wont stay in the guide , got to use two hands to charge. i wonder the difference are in the maker? vz vs. cz ?

as you can tell, im attracted to prohibs (AK, FN & dragunov) so clone is the next best thing .

Can we seriously close this thread now that there is an appropriate section??? There is soo much stuff here and its damn near impossible to navigate. Or at least go through and delete all the junk and work it down to that actuall FAQ. Please!
