Can't buy powder/primers/ammo here rant!

Fort Mac had nothing as well when i lived there. A couple gun stores went tits up during my adolescent years and after that it was Wally World and Canadian Tire for the popular calibers of ammo. Pretty amazing seeing as how there is over 60,000 people there, every 2nd home has an income of over 125K a year and every second home has a hunter in it. The area is also surrounded by moose and bear country. The whitetail hunting isn't too bad nearby either. With all that going for it i was always surprised a smart entrepreneaur couldn't make a comfortable living by having a gun store up there. There was no loyalty for the last gun store that went tits up maybe 15 years ago if i am remembering right but dude was an asshat to the 1st level. Bottom line it sucked being in a city full of sportsmen and surrounded by wilderness and mail order or a trip to Edmonton was the only alternative.

..................anyway Paul i know how you feel.

Wally world and candian tire are the same here , lousy selection , The guy in sporting goods in my walmart is a big hunter goes to africa etc.... he says wally world is going to completey get out of selling ammo period , says it's to much hassle for what it's worth (gov't regs are the hassle) So they are just going to sell off the supplies they have and that's it . At least that is what i have been told, don't shoot the messenger

That sucks Supercub! I live in a town of 4000 people, and if I wanted could go down to the local sports store and pick up a M77 Alaskan 375, or a new M77 compact 338 RCM, a Nosler Custom 48 300wsm, Barnes Tipped Triple Shocks, Lapua brass, and any powder I wanted to

How could anyone expect WalMart to sell ammo. WalMart is nothing but a distribution center for Chinese goods. There's the Canadian Tire on Macleod Trail (east side). I while ago, I have been in the "back" where they kept the traded in guns, very impressive. I'll have to check out the Red Deer store though. And as far as the little village of High River near home, there's a little sporting goods store called "Fly's Etc." The owner get me all my reloading supplies and matches or beats Calgary prices. What more could a guy want, not go into the big city, get friendly service and good prices. Anyone in Okotoks, High River, Nanton and Claresholm should give Udo a call.

This is what they had on hand +/- a few boxes, but they only had four centerfire calibers in stock as follows ........

WW 7Mag 175gr (approx 5 boxes)
WW 303Brit 180gr (appox 12-14 boxes)
WW 300WinMag 180gr (1 box)
WW 22/250 (approx 7 boxes)

Time to dust off the old sporterized Enfield in the back of the safe. :D
