Norinco M4

But what if you mix and match Norc and US parts?

Also, wouldn't that criteria see the M14S/M305 threads moved there too? Or will there be a hybrid "Red-made Western designs" forum?
 
Anyone who thinks they will get a Norinco M4 for $500 is dreaming.

I still don`t understand this if only Norinco was a lot cheaper I would buy one idea. If a Tavor or CQB was about half the current price I would buy those too. But no one is saying hey MASTAR get the TAVOR for $1500 and I would buy one thread
 
Well I think lever is probably marking them up a little high. Maybe not as high as some people think but still a little high. Then again they have the monopoly of the market right now so really they can charge whatever amount they want provided people will still pay it. I know though that I won't be paying $1000 for a chinese rifle. Why would I when I could buy an armalite for 1000? And I really don't think others will either. So it had better be alot cheaper than 1000 or I don't think they will sell well.
 
I've taken notice of levers prices, but I also see that where they charge a bit more, you'd have spent that on shipping from anywhere else.

It just works itself out. Guy's at Lever are always more the willing to show the toys to their potential customers.

Now if it's under $800 you pretty much got me sold. If its' imperial then all to the better.

Who cares if it's restricted. It's going to be a cheap AR alternative and lots of us haven't got one as we don't have $1200+ to drop.

Consider me sold on one of these. Can't wait for them to get in country and see some range reports.

The Norinco M4 (their model designation is: CQ-A5.56) is in fact built and ready for shipment...

The problem is price... Norinco wants (in my opinion) way too much for the gun given what it is and the associated costs to transport/import to Canada. Compared to the other guns they offer this gun is 2 to 3 times the price... when we pointed all of this out the answer we got was essentially "our other Canadian customers are happy with that price".

I can tell you this... at current Norinco pricing you won't see the gun sold in Canada for anywhere near $500.00 as that would be below the importer's landed costs. My expectation is that you'll see the gun selling here in Canada at between $699 and $799.

$699 is pushing it. At $799, I'll throw the extra bucks at a stag, Armalite or whatever. Price of $500 would be great, $600 not bad, even stretching to $650 might be acceptable depending on quality and how hard it may be in the future to get an american manufactured one.

Can't see buying one at the possible price quoted above.

Mark, I assume based on the cost, that you decided not to import them?

We were looking to retail them for @ $599 but at the prices Norinco gave us that wasn't going to happen so we basically shelved it.

One other point... the gun Norinco is offering is a 16" not a 14.5"

I don't think it was "made to US import spec" I think they just copied a "civilian" 16" gun and didn't even think about barrel length.

We asked them if they would make us a 10.5" and they outright said no.

I really hope the rifle will be fully compatible with american parts. I've heard the outside diameter of the CQ311 barrel under the FSB was smaller than regular govmnt profile, meaning you can't put another gas block. Also heard the threading of the barrel nut is metric on a CQ311.

Anyway, i still think it's gonna sell. Same price as a Mini-14, but way cooler. I know a few young recruits in my reserve unit who want to have their personal C8 clone. So this Norinco at 700-800$ will be the way to go. These guys are students, they don't have unlimited budget. Everyone knows that this gun is not for AR snobs or LE/security professionals and nobody forces you to buy it.

The way i see it, I give two thumbs up to any canadian retailer that sell Norinco firearms, simply because it significantly increases the numbers of firearms and restricted firearms owners in Canada. In addition, anything we can find to legally go around US State Dept./ITAR restrictions is a big plus (what's going on with the UK Sabre's BTW ?). Although, ultimately, the best thing would be to have more or bigger canadian-based manufacturers of black rifle and accessories.

I have to agree with Sniper1! I myself am a big Ar fan and am all for spending the extra cash for the better product as I often do on my Ar... However I too was a student once shooting a Norinc SKS because its what I could afford and what ever get guys out the range and practicing is better than not shooting at all. I too think the gun will appeal to people looking at owning an Ar but not spending over $1000
