Falcon Menace 4.5-18x56 (404$) or Bushnell 3200 series ?? Which way should i go ?? Im interested in long range shooting and wanted a scope to start with .

I really like my falcon 4.5x18 its big and heavy though. if your only doing target shooting thats fine though, hell it helps with recoil :) it surprises my friends though at how heavy it is.

menace scope

i would go with the menace, i put a10 power on my savage 10 flp in 308 boy was i surprised, first time out on a new gun glass was awsome clicks worked flawlessly, ill definatly buy another

They're not really all that comparable. The Falcon is huge - target knobs, 30mm body, 56mm objective. There's nothing in the 3200 series that's similar. I will say that the quality of the image is pretty similar between the two. The Falcon is available with a number of reticles, including the MP-20 and the ESLR which I really like.

I own both a 3200 10x mil dot and a 4.5-1x56 Falcon, and they're both excellent scopes, but they each fit a different niche. If you're slapping it on to a heavy, bench gun, probably go with the Falcon. For something a little more portable, the 3200 is probably a better choice.

Glad to see so many Falcon fans. We have had a great response with these scopes and hope to continue with them for a long time to come.

There is another order on it's way in a couple of weeks. Caught us by surprise as we didn't expect them for another month. More info on the new shipment here http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?p=2319424#post2319424

Shhhhh dont tell everyone !!! I havent ordered mine yet !!
Im interested in long range shooting but know nothing about it . This scope seems like a good start in the right price range . Now how to choose between ESLR and MP20 , and metric or standard ??? Which is more popular ? How do i make my choice ?

get an MP20 in metric, and forget all the complex rules and math

i used burris XTR med....worked fine and it kinda goes with the scope...medium price range..xtr's are medium price range and solid.

I was seriously considering the Falcons too, I ended up getting a Bushnell 6500. If/when falcon ever comes out with the t-series I'd probably get one of those. The bushnell has great eye relief, I came to the realization I couldn't buy a scope without looking through it first. I really liked the idea of the MP-20.

I have Elite 4200 series on my hunting rifles and a Menace on my Rem 700 R5. I think the glass is a bit better in the 4200 series but that is a wildly unscientific subjective opinion and we are not talking about a lot of difference. For a target gun tho' like my R5 the Menace fits the bill nicely: Target turrets, MOA recticle, big, heavy and the tres cool look make it hard to beat for the price which is less than the 4200 Elite's but probably a bit more than the 3200 series

I'm having a 15 MOA base put on my .308, and I'm hoping to order a Menace soon. I'll post pics when the happy day comes...

I ordered a couple of the Falcon 4-14x 44mm ffp scopes with the MP-20 reticle and metric turrets. Unfortunately there's a wait. One thing to realize though when comparing these scopes is that the glass on the FFP version is better than the varmint one. 94 percent light transmission vs 92 for the varmint. Plus the feature set for the price is very hard to beat.
