Would you consider bringing in Norinco 97 bullpups? (Part Deux)

At a $800ish ticket price, would you buy a 97A bullpup?

Let's talk optics.

I am thinking about a 3-9x42 illuminated reticle scope. Allows for Service Rifle at 4 power. Anyone know which rings to get considering the ears of the carrying handle?

Any rings you want will work fine..but any rail designed for the 97 will have to stick up above the "ears" as there is not enough room between the sides of the "ears" and a pic rail to mount rings....take a look at rail pics on my thread and you'll see what I mean.

The type 97 needs a very low mount optic so that you still get a half way comfortable cheek weld....that's why I went with an aimpoint micro...the non-restricted may benefit from higher magnification...but out to 200 yards you really don't need any magnification.

Here's a pic for deckard so he can see what I was talking about about "ear" width vs mounting a picatinny rail

Lever arms. CanAm will provide aftermarket rail but I want a original scope.

Now I have a scope without a gun!

The quality is good. Anyhow you don't need super glass for a 3x scope.

The recticle tunes light green, very nice.

I am still trying to figure out how PLA uses this scope. The scope has QD mount and comes with a nice leather bag. Looks like they put it on before aiming it. Makes no sense to me.

I haven't been following up to much on this rifle lately, As Im impatiently awaiting the Krink type VZ58's and Russian SKS's,

Were these ever chambered for 7.62X39?

Any word on the trigger guard type?

While the regular trigger guard gives the rifle cleaner lines, I think it makes the front look like a weird Uzi.

I like the built in vertical grip personally.
I don't really care about distinguishing it from the restricted. With non-restricted black rifles I always make sure I have the documentation with me showing that it is a non restricted firearm.

I just saw that. That's too bad.
Not a deal breaker though. I wonder if we'll be able to get replacement parts so we change it?
