In the Pic's of the real MK18 What is the cut on the bottom of the FH for? Bottle opener? Wire cutter?

I'm assuming it's a feature designed to accept Knight's sound suppressor because that's why they use this particular flash hider.

I apologize for the late reply; I just saw this thread and thought some might like additional details.

koalorka is correct. The notch in question located is at the 6 o'clock position on the face of the flash suppressor [FS]. Its purpose is to ensure that the issued KAC QDSS-NT4 sound suppressor [Part Number: 96062, NSN: 1005-01-437-0324] is correctly indexed, or aligned, on the firearm. There is a corresponding pin at the 6 o'clock position interior of the can, which mates with the notch on the FS and ensures that the can is always installed 'right side up' and correct on it's axis. The FS itself is very well engineered and the notch is one of several features present. Hope this helps.
