Robertson Composite F-class prone, jewell trigger (6 oz) TPS rings, NXS 5.5x22x56mm NPr2.. Pac-nor Supermatch BBl
The target is the ladder test at 300metres going up at .3gr intervals with Win 760, Nosler 55gr spitzers, hydro-formed new Norma brass. 15 thou from the lands. Pretty amazing considering the charge variations... No pics of the final load choice yet...Ill get to that eventually....

Hey Brad,
How do you like that stock?
Did you have it bedded by Ian or did Rick do all the work on it?

The stock is

awesome......I love it..... Rick did all the work on it..... Ian did the venting and inletting tho..... The rifle is a fair weight, specially with the NXS on it. I probably went a little too heavy on the bbl contour.... But whatever....It shoots awesome. I really like the jewell trigger, the safety is in the trigger guard. So when im huntn yotes, you can still have the safety on as your calling and then with a brush of your finger its off......

The action took some work to make it feed properly though....Heavy chamfering on the chamber edge.

but now the ackley cartridge feeds flawlessly..... The ONLY beef I have with it is where the hole the ejector goes in, it must have a burr inside or something, because at about mid stroke of the ejector, there seems to be a point it hangsup a little.... I have tried new ejectors but all are the same... So im gonna have to polish the inside of it and see......

Otherwise, its a really fine toleranced, smmmmmoooooth action....

What about a BAT Machine action? There is a great article on 6MMBR.com on an 'F' class rifle built on the BAT action. This action has an extended receiver for improved barrel tenion holding. I have only seen 1 BAT action owned by a someone from CAlgary and it looks very good. Don't know anything else about them. Steve

They are indeed a very nice action, but they well are over 2 grand by the time you get them up here and you'll lucky to see one within 6-8 months.

Hi Guys

A Surgeon would cost that amount also from Ed at V-Bull and the article I referred too does show a great looking purple coloured laminated wood stock patterned on the Macmillan A-5 with a wider forearm. I like the look of this laminated stock and may order one for my second match build.

BTW, I picked up another XR100 today. Won't sell this one!!!

We used to import Bats and I have seen and worked with lots of them. They look really nice but the stainless is VERY soft and it is extremely easy to gall the lugs. Forget the lube or get a grain of sand in there just once and they are galled. I am in fear every time we have one in the shop that someone will work the bolt without thinking and gall a new action but everyone in the shop knows better.

Fact is that the bolt fit is tighter in the Barnard on every one I have checked.

Thanks Ian, great hands-on information. Have any experience with the stainless Surgeon? I have only seen a couple but from what I have since they are impressive.

Bat or barnard

Ian is right (and I have 7 full blown 6 ppc BAT actioned benchguns)

barnard actions weigh a bit more for BR but some day I will have one.
