Value really depends on the following factors:

Age: Kynoch had the same packaging for several decades

You would have to pull a couple rounds to see if it's Berdan primed or boxer.
Unless there is a lot# somewhere on the box (would then be possible to determine the age).

Older ammo was loaded with cordite.

I'd be interested in several boxes if it's boxer primed.

If it's older berdan primed with cordite, then it's only good for collecting.

I agree the Ruger no.1 would be the eastiest to convert. A friend of mine in the UK has had one made in 600 NE and 577 Tyranasaurus. The Ruger no. 1 is well suited to big bore calibers. Well done for finding a cheap source of 500NE.

The term Nitro is for nitrocellulose, which is basically smokeless powder. As opposed to Black powder.
The word Express is a kind of marketing gimmick, a tie in to express trains, as in hits like a train.
There are also BPE (black powder express) rounds.

For those interested there's a very good book called - Shooting the British Double Rifle: A modern guide to load development and use, by Graeme Wright. There`s lots of very good stuff on some of these old British dangerous game rounds.
