What gimmick/gadget you bought was a wate of money?

... those not-so waterproof rocky boots (1000gr th thinsulate) I bought a couple seasons ago... I even wrote an email to the people @ Rocky to let them know what I thought of their POS boots. I hate them so much I refuse to buy anything with a "Rocky" label on it.

this thread sucks....

In 1974 I bought a 2 wheeled ATV powered by an 8 horse Tecumseh. Came with a little trailer to tow behind it. The bike had at least 10 chain/sprocket combos as gear reduction - just imagine all those whirring parts snapping around between your legs as you zoomed along at a top speed of 4mph! Took this rig up the Alaska Hwy to go moose hunting. My brother and I drove about 10 miles off the side of the hwy on an oil road and loaded all we'd need for a week into the trailer. I drove the machine and trailer off the road, through the ditch, and sunk it in a bog not 50 feet from where we started. We hunted on foot.

I bought a "tacticool" rifle (AR180B) once. Took it out of the box, looked it over and then promptly sold it.

Overpriced junk! :(

I got 3 pairs of Cornstocker boots with No soals on them and one pair is Brand new.

As for the Gerber Blood light, It works great in the snow but I understand the problem without snow....

When I first started hunting, I bought a Browning folding knife. With camo scales on the handle.

Nothing like putting your knife down for a sec half way through a gutting job and not being able to find it again LOL

love the posts guys, ive been laughing my ass off,ive actually got one of those butt pullers, havent used it all the deer are dead by the time im there to use it,worst things i got so far is a buck knife that the seratted edge chip off ,too brittle.A new set of irish setter boots that zip at the side that lets water in,they gave me my money back,a set of danner boots that the sole came off after a week of hard hunting,an axe at canadian tire that went dull after the first few chops,a plasticthandled meat saw that broke first time use,a mcculla chain saw that quit after first tree, ive been scre--d so many times we should make a list of chitty gear

Buck Knife(won't keep an edge

How true! I've had two folding plus one solid blade. Absolutely none kept an edge.
It is amazing what advertising can do.

I have two Buck's, one I bought in 1970 and a folding knife I bought about 8 years ago. The newer one is pretty average the older one does seem to hold an edge pretty well though. I must say though that the older one is the devil itself to get sharp.

How about a camo flashlight?

Useless.... just like any other stuff that I might put down and forget about for a few minutes. Then spend the next half hour looking for it. Gimme a fluorescent red flashlight any time, I'll take it. There are somethings that you just don't need camoed, like your flashight, knife, compass, GPS. Too much crap comes in "camo" it appeals to the masses I guess. But realisticlly speaking and if you've ever spent time in the bush at the twilight hours, you soon learn to hate camo crap.

Bought one of those 870 magazine end caps with a protruding rod out front that you push in to reduce the mag tube capacity to two when you want to go hunting . Besides being plastic and prone to breakage it only works one way to have to take the endcap off to reset it to full capacity.

I thought I was the only fool to buy one of those. Nice to know I'm not alone.;)

One of my recent blunders was to buy a cheap chinese folding hunting knife with a gut hook - cheap POS. There are a few already mentioned here and a few I would rather not mention.
