whats a good price offer?

it's obvious he is trying to ditch it because it is an ABolt and he realizes the mistake he made

HUH??? What are you talking about?

I got an A-bolt in 30-06, and it's the nicest hunting rifle I've fired in over 8 years. Here's a pic of the one I got, the A-bolt Hunter.

I've put 7 boxes through it now, and I still love it. Smooth trigger, good weight, nice groupings, cleans easy. All around, it is one of my two favorite rifles (the other being my Marlin 30-30)

BCHunter, if you're doubting whether or not to get it, ask your friend if you can take it to fire a few rounds at the local range or somewhere. You be the judge of whether it's right for you or not.

the rifle is $1150 at LeBaron right now ($1035 with 10% club discount), plus tax and shipping.
that scope is $500 in the states right now (probably significantly more in Canada with our crazy markups), rings and bases are $100. all plus tax.

yeah id say $1000 is a pretty good deal :)
youre basically saving all taxes & getting the scope, mounts and a boresighting for free.

assuming you want a 7mm rem mag in the first place. ive passed up some really good deals in the past just because i didnt really have any use for the chambering.

that's great. Enjoy your Abolt. At the rate you're using it, you'll wear the barrel out in the year 2208

Hmm, owned the rifle one year, fired 7 boxes of ammo through it, and you state it should last me until 2208.... Sounds pretty good to me! LOL! What's wrong with that?

Let me rephrase my answer, yes it can be shipped here, but not for 999 and he was using that number to compare prices.... its not quite like ordering from wholesale. If you are going to use the US prices for comparison, then you need to add in your 200-300 beans and take into account your wait time. But yes it can be done.

Think that's pretty much what I said in my post.....

I don't think pricing guns in the U.S. is a bad way to comparison shop. Bearing in mind the extra cost of getting it up here of course.

All right, all joking aside, asking a serious question here; What are you guys so opposed to the Abolt. Not trying to be argumentitive here, just curious, as my own personal experience with the rifle has been phenomenal.

I own ONE A-Bolt ...... just one, in 22/250.

It is accurate, consistent and fits me well. That's the good points.

In heavier recoiling calibers the stock is far too small exaggerating felt recoil. The mag box is way over engineered and quite clunky. They are overpriced. The gold trigger and flashy finish doesn't bode well with all shooters. Some don't like the trigger system, but I haven't had problems with mine.

Well, mine as stated, is a 30-06 caliber, and I haven't had any problems with the recoil, quite acceptable really. I also find the stock to be the perfect fit for when I'm shouldering and firing from standing, sitting, laying flat, or any other position I've tried.

Personally, I do wish the mag box was a simpler design like in the Tikka T3 series, but nothing is perfect. I ordered a second mag box that I have pre-loaded and ready to go when the first is empty (This, of course, is when I target shooting, at the range, etc.... not when I'm hunting.)

The gold trigger was another little thing I didn't like, but nothing that I couldn't modify with a little fine sanding and an enamel cam paint I use, so it wouldn't glint while hunting.

I kinda lucked out when I bought mine, in that the guy was opening his store new, and trying to compete against a well-entrenched store across the highway from him. He was selling all new rifles for cost plus 10% for his first month of business, and I got the Abolt Hunter, still in the box, for $650, plus he threw in the scope rings (good ones) and first box of ammo for free. He essentially was taking a loss on the sale of new rifles just to get people to go check out his shop. It worked, because a lot of guys that were starting to get upset with the attitude of the other store now shop at his place. Add that he also deals with handguns and the other guy doesn't, well, he's starting to do really well. I visit his store at least twice a month. If you're interested in the name of the store, PM me, as I don't want to be accused of advertising for shops that aren't sponsors of this site.

Overall, I can see why some people might not like it, but again it's personal comfort for each individual. There will always be people that like a certain firearm, while others will have objections against that same firearm. That's why I told him to take it out and fire some rounds through it himself. Who knows... He might like it just like me, or side with you guys.. But he'll have to try it to find out.

what's with the brutal trigger pulls that cant be adjusted? what's with the stupid detach mag that sits in a hinged floorplate? why do they rattle when you shake them? why do many show feeding failures? why do they need an adjustable muzzle brake tuner to make them shoot under 1 inch groups? hahahahha

Xbolts are cool, I like the direction Browning is going :)

Well, sucks you can't adjust the weight on the trigger pull, for those who find it too heavy, they'll just have to hit the gym more often.:D:D:D I have no problem with it.

I agree the detach mag on the floor plate sucks, but as I said earlier, no design is perfect. If I could, I'd have mine modified to be more like the Tikka T3 mags, like I said earlier.

Since you mentioned it, I decided to check and nope, mine doesn't make any noise when I shake it any which way.

Feeding failures? No idea, haven't had one, but then I've only owned it for a year and put 7 boxes of rounds through it in a 5 month period of the year. (The other seven months I was firing my work weapon; and I call it a weapon cause that's what a C7 is.) I'll try to get out to the range and put another dozen boxes through it soon and let you know if I have any troubles.

Adjustable muzzle brake to be able to fire 1" and under groups? Dunno, haven't had any trouble doing that myself, and I haven't made any modifications to mine other than camming that stupid gold trigger up. Sounds more like someone needs to go to the range more often!:dancingbanana::D

:D:DI thought I put enough smilies in there! LOL! Oh well, here's some more!:D:D:cool::cool::D:D I'm nt being defensive, just playing along with the rest.
