longer courses of fire in IPSC

if you're worried about mag pouches on a belt for 50 shot stages. just make everyone put 2-3 mags at a set spot mid course...

What I would like to see is making Level II matches minimum 150 rounds for outdoors and Level III minimum 225 rounds.
I hate those LII where you have 95 rounds and 5 stages.
As for longer COF, for me it make no sense in Canada, where we have 10 rounds limit. If they (?) change our laws pertaining to how many rounds in the mag and we use more then 10, then sure, why not.

A couple of years ago ,at our year end fun match ,we had a 32 round stage with a texas star at the end. We called it the ammo eater. Not to many people had any mags left at the end of that stage.:D:D

the average shooter carries 61 rounds on them and in the gun. 5 mags on a belt, 1 mag in the gun and 1 round up the pipe. that should be more than enough for a 40 round stage, or even a 50 round stage.

Yes, higher match round counts are better UNLESS they just add rounds where it is obvious they are just trying to get the numbers up to make the level.

Small stages can be fun but what bugs me is when they have a huge area for a stage but only use a small amount of it. Use it all. Add more stages to fill it and just keep the shooter loaded hot between.

Totally disagree here. Higher round counts just mean more mags. I think most of us can wear 6 pouches or more. Then you come to the stage with one in hand and you are up to 71 rounds. I see many guys and gals with more than that too.

And I like the 10 round limit. If not as a Canadian law but in the sport. Seeing YouTube videos of guys hose down a 32 round stage with 1 or 2 mags is BORING! Changing mags ADDS greatly to the fun and challenge of the sport. Having everyone using the same capacity also adds to it. Having a race to see who can have the largest capacity mag is not fun.

The other problems with longer cof is traveling with the ammo, following the airline rule the max is about 350 rds for the 38SC.....

Fudd,

32 rounds, that's OPEN :), for Standard using .40SW we can squeeze max 18-19 rounds, Production same.
IMO, running with 6 mags is boring and hard, they can easy fell of the belt and movement is somehow limited.
As for 10 rounds, if they - IPSC, would make them mandatory to all, I will like it, however for now we are the only major IPSC country which got that limitation and actually is hard to switch when you shoot in Europe from remembering 10 or 17.
Stages in Europe are sometimes design certain way, to complement those who are good in reloading, where there is a stage with 18 rounds and three targets and shooter must change the mag three times.

Greetings

there are Standard guns fitting 22 rounds now, won't be long before there is more, and that's with .40 S&W.
currently PD in the USA is 10 rounds in a mag only as well. if IPSC was to limit all of us to 10 rounds world wide you'd see a new sport start up and IPSC die off.
if your mags are falling off your belt when you're running around, tighten up your mag pouches, but even still how does having a bunch of mags on your belt limit movement?

Having shot many matches in the US where you can use 30 round magazines, I heartily disagree. No reloading adds a dimension to the game where you are fully concentrating on movement and shooting as opposed to getting your speedy reload done in as little time as possible.

Maybe it looks boring to you, but believe me, it is far more exciting because the stages goes that much quicker. Your room for error drops dramatically.
