Congratulation!!! Ian, on winning the Lt. Gov's match. Yes he got a ride in the Chair!!! Con grad's to all the guys from the Kamloops area. They ran a bit of a shooting clinic. I learned one thing. When Ian yells "WEIRD WIND" don't shoot.

Thanks Brent!!!! And congrats to you as well! You had your fair share of gongs to drag home as well! I hope you didn't herniate yourself too bad trying to lift me!! I was also duly impressed to see your name all over those trophies from years past.

Marksmen, CyaN1de, Shockman, Inspector and I were all in the top 10 which felt really good considering we had some super talent there, including the heavily sponsored "Team Savage".

Congrats Ian on a superb performance and to all the Cdn shooters who took top placings.

Aubrey White took the top honours in F(F) (or is it F(TR) now?). Another local shooter.

Nice to see Canadians winning a Canadian match.

Love to see the results in the near future.

I will post pics tonite from the weekend when I get a chance to get them off my camera.

What a great weekend for shooting with tonnes of rain, "Weird Winds" and mirage.

And congrats to Ian on his Lt. Gov's Win.

Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to take pics of the Final results on Monday but I will post what I have for the previous 3 days. We will have to wait for the results to hit the BCRA website.

Jerry, I would like to take credit for top honours in F(T/R) but I can't. My first place was for BC resident shooters only. I was pleased the old .308 shot so well but 1st place goes to another shooter and am ashamed to say I can't remember who that was.

Those shooters who have not attended this competition are missing a wonderful event. Four days of well organized competitions fired at 300, 400, 500 and 600 metres. The BCRA and Bob Pitcairn and his family in particular deserve our undying gratitude for the many days and weeks of hard work that go into the preparation for this event.

Attaboy Ian,
I hope to see the pics of your ride. KD

Here they are :D and the 1st 3 days results are HERE

It was fun Richard, too bad the BC clan could not come south to "stretch" those skinny 6BR legs :) Glen, Bill and I are here. Hope the Flint can make it, John said he was coming, guess we will see at 2 pm at the practise Wednesday.

Great finally meeting you in person and it was nice to see Brent too, it has been about 12+ yrs since I saw him.

Great pics too R and for posting the F results and also congrats to Ian once again. Ted will be happy to know he made the winning barrel. Ted makes great barrels eh.. ;) The BC match was very tight, drop a point and you slide 6 places easy.

Hi guys, my turn. Had a terrific time again, laughed til I allmost puked, refereed the Ron and Keith show, and found out how many rounds you can't get out of a 284.

Great performances by the KTSA guys and congrats to Ian, Brent, Richard, Tom, Jim, and Marc for the great cleanup of the prize table. Looks good on you.

I'll let you know what happens here at Doug Ridge. Too bad you couldn't get here, maybe next year.

Cheers, Glen

So what calibers are guys shooting in FClass these days?

With the exception of 1 person, we were all using 6 BR's with no-turn (.272) necks. Half were using Berger 105 VLD's and half were using Sierra 107's. All were using Varget.

Mark Anderson was using a 6.5X284 but switched to 223 since it looks like the match was a lousy place to find out the barrel was now toast. Judy was a TR shooter (308)

Richard: 6BR, Rem XR-100 Action, Krieger Barrel (#2 over-all agg. )
Marc: 6BR, Barnard Action, Krieger Barrel
Ian: 6BR, Nesika J action, Gaillard Barrel (yeah, I know...)
Tom: 6BR, Surgeon Action, Krieger Barrel (F-Class Champ)
Mark A: 6.5X284 Rem 700 Action, McLennan Barrel
Jim B: 6.5X55 Imp., Badger Paintgun sprayer action, Exhaust pipe off '59 Buick for barrel :)

6mm and 6.5's are the dominant cals in F Open around the world. Used to be the 6.5 for distances beyond 600yds but with new 6mm bullets and going really fast, the gap has closed.

however, the jury is still out if this elevated performance doesn't cook barrels fast.

Cases run from the 6BR through to improved 243's in 6mm. Most popular are the 6BR through to the improved 22/250 (6XC, Lapua)

From the 6.5X47L to the 6.5-284 in 6.5mm. The large 6.5-284 still has a very strong following but it eats barrels in a hurry. If you are reaching way out, the case of choice for maximum velocity. Many are having great sucess with the 260/Swede and improved variants. Much easier on pipes and you go near 6.5-284 velocities.

Some brave souls are using 7mm in the form of a 284Win or short magnums. Recoil/heat/wear becomes your biggest problem but if you compete out to 1200yds in strong winds, definite ballistic advantage.

Bisley and Sacremento would be locations where the benefits of the 7mm could be worth the problems.

In F(F), 308 dominates but the 223 can do well with new gen bullets. The 308 has a definite advantage when it comes to 'magnumizing' the performance. At SAAMI levels, very close to a tie.

The only problem is availability of brass and whether Norma has reinforced/used better alloys in recent batches. Norma tends to be soft so primer pockets open up within a few firings.

Solution is to use Win 22/250 brass. Very strong, accurate and dirt cheap. Very easy to make XC brass as that was the orig pattern DT used when designing the wildcat.

I guess I'll have to stretch those legs in Alberta come September and get ready for next year if they run a Super Agg again. I will surely attend if that happens.
