Best 9mm Ammo for Self defence?

Well above all else you have to look at your city's demographic.

Somalians, Chinese, Filipinos, and skinny whites blacks etc would go down better with fast 115 grain hp's such as Silvertips/Frangible.
Get fast 115's for this demographic, as fast as you can.
Limited fat to deal with...some of these guys are so skinny that you can deal with them like Varmints. So I'd match this demographic to places such as Vancouver.

Big boys like the average man in Chicago (6'3), you may need 147 hp such as SXT's. Some of these guys are very big and or fat so you'll want a slower round with more penetration. So maybe if you live in rural Alberta, this would be a nice choice for you.

If you have a random demographic just use 124's-130's.

All depends where you live and where you go usually.
Right now I carry 147 grain SXT's because its all i can get that's premium.

If armour piercing is your thing you can drill out the centers of fast JHPs/Frangible that come apart on impact and insert tungsten dowels/ screws found on the internet. These will readily defeat low end vests. You need special permits to do that though.

Are you a bully victim or something?

In my opinion this post is completely useless.
I explain:

Since in Canada you cannot defend yourself with a knife , forget the gun, so what is the point to discuss about self defence ammo, unless you are a cop.

Posts like this only add more ammo to the anti gun people, please guys next time think before you type.

Just my 2 cents.

You are completely and utterly wrong! If I may quote section 34 of the Criminal Code of Canada:

Defence of Person
Self-defence against unprovoked assault

34. (1) Every one who is unlawfully assaulted without having provoked the assault is justified in repelling force by force if the force he uses is not intended to cause death or grievous bodily harm and is no more than is necessary to enable him to defend himself.

Extent of justification

(2) Every one who is unlawfully assaulted and who causes death or grievous bodily harm in repelling the assault is justified if
(a) he causes it under reasonable apprehension of death or grievous bodily harm from the violence with which the assault was originally made or with which the assailant pursues his purposes; and

(b) he believes, on reasonable grounds, that he cannot otherwise preserve himself from death or grievous bodily harm.

R.S., 1985, c. C-46, s. 34; 1992, c. 1, s. 60(F).

Keeping in mind that we're talking about a defensive round, AND the fact that we in Canada aren't judged smart enuf to be allowed to CCW, I will assume that this defensive round would be for use in a home. In this case, I would definitely go for the Glazer Safety Slug. Makes a really big boo-boo but won't penetrate thru layers of gyproc, potentially hitting you daughter in the next room.
Glazers were the only ammo I kept for my 469 when it was my home-defence gun yrs ago.

you can defend yourself with the equiv of the attacker. fist for fist, knife for knife, pencil for pencil etc...

i understand the self defence laws in canada completly. i at the same time still have a right to know, and inquire about whatever i please.

Thanks

You don't need to match the attacker, you can use whatever force is reasonable if your intent was not to kill or cause grievous bodily harm.

when i went through security training years ago you were only able to match, and not surpass. i don't know if things have changed now, or if things are different out in BC.

Who cares. You can't deal with the legal side of the incident unless you survive. The priority is surviving, not worrying about the legal crap that will ensue.
