Tj, what do you run for rain pants?

And where's the lightweight hip waders? I got some dandys from an outfit in AK. They are 12oz IIRC and pack up very nicely. Not ###y but functional.

Just a pair of MEC Goretex rain pants and hopefully no need for hip waders.

Being fair-skinned I'd be including sunscreen on my list.
I don't see a compass or GPS on your list - going somewhere you're very familiar with (night or day)?

Yup, compass is a good point....always in my bag but missing from the list.

Sheep...
soon as I saw your list, I too wondered what it would weigh.
By the way, what rifle are you taking?

Good luck, wish I was there,
LeRoy

You are probably talking about Bag Balm.

The stuff in the green tube is called "Glysomed" and comes in a green tube. The stuff Gatehouse talks about is called " Bag Balm" and "Udder Balm" and is available at UFA. It comes in a can that's black and white :kinda like a cow hide" That Bag Balm stuff is awesome. It has medicinal ingredients that heal cuts and small wounds like nothing else. It was designed to heal cow's tits when injured or dry. Highly recommended. Still don't know why you need "lip balm" though...........:D

Should finish packing tomorrow and will throw it on the scale but 60 pounds sans rifle is my guess. Doesn't look like my A7 will get here before Friday so I'll be taking the good old M995 Sako in 7mm STW. I've got lighter rifles but this one is so dialed in that half the critters I point it at just die of fright before I ever pull the trigger....:D

I had a sergeant who used to say "A good soldier always has a lighter and chapstick on him at all times. Both keep you happy and warm." He was referring to how during winter ops, the rubber o-rings on the propane stove lines dry out, and how the remedy for that was to slather some chapstick on the o-ring. Stops it from cracking and allows the thing to seal properly, thus allowing you to make warm food. Plus your lips crack hardcore when dry winter air is blowing.

The same sergeant also went 34 days without a shower during a tour in Bosnia.

Are you using a protein bar to replace a meal each day or do you split the De-hy in half (2 person sized meals)? We have packed a couple days extra rations just in case.

Protein bar is for lunch with a bit of jerky or trail mix and on hard hiking days maybe a chocholate bar for lunch too. Those meals for two are definitely not meals for two....not sure who Mountain House is trying to kid. I eat an entire one each evening for dinner. Ya, packing some extra food would be nice but it comes down to a matter of volume and I'm maxed out. 12 days seems to be about the maximum a person can do without resupplying. Truthfully, I'm hoping I brought 11 days extra food because we are going to find a ram on day one! :D

That's what I've been telling myself for ten years but I have yet to see a legal ram. It will sure feel good when I get that sucker.
I agree with the meals. We generally pack two for each day. Last year we covered some new territory which meant a lot of walking. Most of the meals I cleaned up myself. You feel like a bloated cow for a spell but before you know it the search is on for a snack.

A couple of those tiny squeeze packages of Hienz Ketchup and little salt & pepper packages are always in a baggie in my pack along with some Worther's hard candies. Sinful but luxurious (along with my hash pipe, todd)

You need zigzag papers and some MJ. It is much lighter than the clay.:D

Ketchup is a great idea!:) We take some salt in to camp for the hides. If we get meat I spose some to be used to add some flavor to the tenderloins.
