Inappropriate infraction/strike

In response to this, i'm not here all of the time, I have a life and there are other things to do. You think that we have to be here all of the time just for you.

No but however when i am wrong about something, i am NOT too proud to admit it. I have tried to PM you several times, and you are ignoring me. The OP has had his infraction reversed, but mine still stands. Whats up?

I've had this discussion about BTT's before...and even got an infraction myself. The really sad part? Nobody listened to what I (And no less than three english Prof's and a lawyer) had to say.
I made it clear, that according to the published rules containing the term "every 7 days", a BTT can be done ON the 7th day, and suggested that if they what they in fact wanted was a BTT of 168 hours, they should change one tiny little word in the rules.....change "Every" to "After"

  1. Members may "bump" or bring their ad "back-to-the-top" (BTT) every seven (7) days only. Ads BTT'd sooner than that may be deleted without warning.
Should read:

This would solve the confusion, but apparently it's either
A: Too much fun nailing members for reading the rules correctly
or B:Too much work to change one little word in the rules
or C:Both.

Also nowhere there does it say you will be infracted for it either. All it says it adds will be deleted without notice.

I recieved a "major infraction" last year for stating that I kept my pistol locked and loaded at home. I was accused of promoting "illegal activity". Well the Quebec CFO, Mr. Yves Massé, who I spoke to face-to-face with a room full of witnesses, could not even determine if this was "illegal". He said he would have to charge me and have a judge decide to set jurisprudence. The CGN mod however seems to know more about the law than the damned CFO! Go figure!!! BTW, the CFO has NOT charged me as yet even though he knows I keep a loaded pistol on me at home. To the CFO it is a non-issue, on CGN it is a MAJOR infraction.

.

Hypothetically, if you were charged, what would your defense be?

I got an infraction once which I thought was chicken####, then I thought a bit more and realized that the guy who had given me the infraction was donating his time to help make this place run smooth. Maybe he had a ####ty day, maybe he had a ####ty week, who knows. But he should be allowed to screw-up. So really no big deal, cut the mod a little slack, you don't have to always prove that you are right and the mod is wrong.

I am being somewhat light hearted, but when you realize that eastern posters in the -3 GMT timezones could get infractions for BTT'ing an item after 168 hours of THEIR time had passed (but not 168 hours of system time) it gets to be a bit of a paper crime. Much the same as Bill C68 created.

The irony should not be lost.

Allowances ARE made within reason.

Not quite the way it is.

I look first at dates.
Example:
Original post made on June 1, BTT June 8. 7 day BTT, Good to go.
Original June 1, BTT June7. 6 day BTT, I look at the posting times to see whether they are close to midnight, and if so by how much.

Because of all the time zones and associated differences across Canada.
I set my CGN time for Central time.

If the 6 day BTT is within a few hours of being legit. It gets the Time zone benefit of the doubt. and I move on
If I see the same poster doing the same thing time after time, an infraction can be expected.

Early BTT's cheat every other CGN member that has a post in that EE Section.

Cheers Eh!
