Is the guy in jail yet?
Is the guy in jail yet?
yup 2 years i think it was...which really means he will likely be out next week......
I don't think a canadian would end up in jail for violating another countries export procedures. He broke no Canadian laws.
If anything, he will be sitting helplessly as his shipment of 24 rifles sits and rots in a government warehouse, and maybe face a fine.
Wow, crazy... wasn't this individual recently selling off his collection to move to the US or was that code for "the big house"?
Damn. I still remember being tempted to jump in on that group buy "deal"... so glad I didn't.
But yeah, I wonder how much time will be served for those crimes - a few months? (I'm just curious of the severity for falsifying documents, etc. with regards to importing firearms)
The exporter or the importer?
The exporter in America will face big consequences because he broke laws in his own country.
The importer was bringing in products that were legal for resale within Canada, so there would be nothing more then a slap on the wrist. If he is facing any jail time, I would imagine it would be for GST evasion, failure to declare the products to customs, or some other violation of Canadian law. In other words, a crime committed within Canada that violated Canadian law.

Good thing he wasn't a CGN member... maybe he was a member 'over there'
