Latest news on FN PS90 and FS2000

How many are suppose to be in the country? I have one of each in my safe. my fs2000 is unfired. that makes it at least three.. And I was told mine was the first!

I have the DSP-5 infont of me. I do not have a copy of the DSP-83.
Date of approval / issued is 09/11/2007...Country of Ultimate Destination is "Canada" port of exit from US is "LAX" and there are "PROVISOS" which had to be met. They were met on the US side, verified, and then the guns were allowed out "APPROVED WITH PROVISOS".

Not sure who was indicated as the "End User" but I can't find it on the DSP-5 that I have.

As I said before, it doesn't seem fair that these couple were approved and so many other applications were rejected. They are cool guns and well thought out. The internals (bolt and bolt carrier) remind me of the C9 / (M249 in US speak). Nice long rail to put the scope / sight where ever you need it for eye relief.

I still think I like the FN SCAR (haven't shot one yet though) a bit better.

The bolt kinda reminds me of the enhanced LMT and KAC E3 bolts with the dual spring extractor. The C9 bolt rides on the receiver rail, but as far as I remember the FN2000 bolt is the typical mult-lug arrangement similar to the AR, with the bolt carrier riding on the plastic receiver.

It is a very interesting rifle and I think it will be an excellent GL platform as it was designed from the ground up as a modulus wpn sys. The forward ejecting system is interesting but god forbids ####ty magazines are bing inserted into this system. Make sure magazine sits properly or disaster shall follow.
 
I dont know about that FN2000, didnt it have problems with shell casings getting stuck in that front exiting port. They kinda dribble out and get stuck sometimes.

I haven't had an issue in about 1000 rounds, and the design of the extraction & ejection system is very well thought out. Once a spent casing has been pushed into the ejection tube, there is no doubling back. I feed it decent factory ammo or reliable hand loads.
I'm getting accuracy out of this thing with 77gr. SMKs that would shame alot of AR or Sig shooters, despite a 12lb trigger pull.
The one thing I don't like is the forehand grip, and as soon as I change that, I'll be running it in service rifle events.

Why can't PS90 and FS2000 be sourced from Belgium? The semi auto versions of these firearms are manufactured in Belgium and exported to the US............why not here?

As I understand it they are in fact made in belgium and imported into the states because they do not fall into the assault weapons definition in the ban. Lack of pistol grips and folding/retracting stocks. Thats why they can get VZ58's and AK's imported even with the ban. At least thats what I heard.

FN (Belgium) will only ship product to their "exclusive" Canadian distributor (that's their contractual arrangement). My understanding is that their dealer/distributor agreements do not allow dealers or distributors in one country to export to another country (without FN's permission and they won't give it). Any European dealer who sells PS90's or FS2000's to Canada would jeopardize their status as dealer/distributor with FN.

This is essentially what Glock did with Questar. Glock didn't want Questar importing their guns to Canada so Glock sent a lawyer's letter to all of their US Distributors warning them that if they sold Glock product to Questar (our US company) that Glock would terminate their Distributor agreement since Glock had information that Questar was exporting the guns to Canada and Glock wanted to protect their Canadian distributors and their Canadian pricing structure.

Buying FN from Europe is a matter of finding a source for the guns... FN Belgium won't sell them knowing they are going to be exported to Canada. They will refer you to the "authorized" Canadian distributor... who seems to have no interest in selling them to the civilian market.

I say we flood his e-mail account untill he goes as mad as us not having them. Then he will be more than nice enough to sell it to some of our dealers like Queststar, ect.
 
i called R.nicoles this moring, they said that I had to call belguem and get them direct. they dont carry the FNPS90 for FN in canada acording to "chris".

there you go questar nicoehl denies anyinvoulvement with the ps90 :)
 
The distributor for the P-90 Law enforcement versions is M.D Charlton , at various trade shows they have models displayed for law enforcement sales I do not know about the civilian versions from them doesn't hurt to ask all they can say is no.
 
I'd be all over getting the civie model if it could be arranged. There has been alot of interest from this for awhile. I'm surprised it's requiring individual forum members to find out if they can be imported. I would have though serious dealers would have delt with this already as its an approved firearm. :cool:
