Grizzly Choke Tube

Is the barrel chrome lined? The reason I ask is that my barrel is very rough inside for about the first 4.43" than transitions to shiny as if it were chrome lined, normal?

No, they are not chrome lined. The bore is shiny as it has been polished - a good thing as it reduces plastic fouling from wads. The rough area you mention is the forcing cone, which is the transition between the chamber and the bore. It's not uncommon to see roughness in the forcing cone as it's not as easy to polish as the parallel sides of the bore.

Well I fired a fair number of slugs through my barrel and never tried to get the
choke out until 30 or so had gone down range. No way that my choke can be removed by any normal means. I'll send it back to now that work has started and let Canada Ammo check it out.

IMO the issue choke is way too tight for a slug gun. Makes little sense in an other wise great set up.

I have to also say that for buckshot the issues choke is great...just take the choke out when you get it and use anti-seize paste before shooting it. I'd switch to IC for slug use.

CA is a great company to work with to solve problem,s and I have found them to be more than fair if an issue crops up.

Grizzly Rules!

Try using an adjustable wrench on the quarter. keep it very close to the end of the barrel. It will give you a better hold on the quarter and may keep it from bending.

The choke on mine calipers out at improved modified and IMO is a bit tight for the best accuracy for slugs. The slugs need to swage down substantially to fit through the choke.

Removing the one on mine is beyond my ability at 30 slugs through. No way it can come out with even a custom made wrench and enough twist to bend the wrench. It may have had a burr in it from the beginning though and not related to shooting of slugs.

I get 3-4" groups at 40 yards from my grizzly which is ok but I get the same at 75 yards with my Savage 24C in 20 gauge with an IC.

I was thinking of buying a grizzly. It is best to get an Improved cylinder instead? Maybe Canadaammo can ship as an option or talk to the Grizzly folks about shipping an improved cylinder with their shotguns. I would say that shooting slugs through this gun and ruining the choke and not making it possible to unscrew it is a serious reliablility issue. Either put a warning on the box or ship a different choke.

It’s not a big deal, just buy another IC choke for it before shooting slugs, they are only $25 or so.
An IC for slugs to stop rampaging grizzlies from chasing us around the swing set in our backyards and the IMod the shotgun comes with for whacking ditch chickens.
It’s all good.
I’m simply not going to shoot slugs out of mine until I get an IC choke or I’ll remove the existing choke if I get the urge to send a few slugs down the barrel in the mean time.

We polled this very board as to what choke was wanted. MOD was it. As stated above the new chokes are cheap. We have sold hundred of these with only one customer issue with chokes.

So it's an isolated incident? Don't get me wrong if I need to buy chokes with it it's no big deal. But it would be nice to do both out of the box. I'm still going to buy it, preferably with the ghost ring sights if they are still in stock. From what I gather this is a very good shotgun.

So far I observed one GNZ can't unscrew the choke. And that Grizzly will get exchanged by CanAm after cannoe season.
