Don't know if this is the place to bring it up, but here it goes.
I am attempting to purchase a rifle from a chap on here who's trader rating is in the mid twenties and all feedback is good.
I was looking for a specific rifle in a specific calibre. He PM'd me that he had one and gave me the price. I agreed @ 5pm. @ 9am the next day he was looking for payment details ASAP. Later that day, within 24 hours of committing to buy, I did the EMT and payment received on his end. Now going on 5 days later, no rifle, no transfer info. Just a message from him last week that he was busy and was going to try to call the CFC.
Am I getting paranoid, or does this deserve more patience on my part?
 
i would send him a pm asking when you can expect your rifle to be shipped. if he has a good trader rating its a little too soon to worry. work or family issues maybe causing the delay.
 
I think if you send him a PM saying an update would make you feel a little more secure, he will likely send you a shout. If you don't hear back within 7 days of the EMT, I would call my financial institution and find out what can be done to get the money back, as you believe you have been involved in a fraudulent deal.
If his trader rating is legit, I doubt there will be an issue. I have had some delays in the past that seemed unreasonable on my part, but the buyer was always happy in the end, if I responded.
 
It seems like he is a lot more concerned about getting his money,than he is with sending off the gun.I would be a little concerned at this point,but I wouldn't panic yet.
 
I wouldn't be worried, I was a little paranoid about my last buy. It was all unfounded though and I received my firearm in a couple weeks. As a piece of advice, don't send funds until he/she starts the transfer. That way if he/she receives your money and doesn't send the firearm you can get the RCMP to pick it up for you :D
 
I just sold a rifle faster than I thought and didn't have a good box to send it in and asked if he could wait a while. In the end he is picking it up at my place tomorrow. The key is if there is any delay to communicate out of courtesy as there is a trust factor here. Not responding to e-mails after the money sent is not cool. I'd let it go a day or two but that's it.

some people are like this - communication and customer service is amazing until the moment they get your money, and then you instantly drop to the second or third class treatment. this is why in the service industry i like to withhold payment until the job is completed - paying in advance for a service is a really bad idea. if you still hold the money, then they will be sure to finish the job in a timely manner and ensure that it is done to your satisfaction. if you pay in advance? well, youll be lucky if they finish the job at all.

IMO when you pay for something it should be shipped out first thing the next business day, or transferred first thing the next business day. anything else and the guy is just dicking around.

You do know his name, his actual location, and his telephone number?
 
As a piece of advice, don't send funds until he/she starts the transfer. That way if he/she receives your money and doesn't send the firearm you can get the RCMP to pick it up for you

I don't know about you,but I will not transfer a firearm to anyone without first receiving payment.

Payment first then transfer started.

But it should be done asap after payment received. Or darn good communication with buyer with proper explanation concerning any delay.
 
Trust.......Courtesy.......Communication....Shipping care. The transaction whether you start a transfer before payment or vice versa one party can get the shaft. Trader ratings are usually a good indindicator to start. Courtesy is important, when someone's got my money, I want the transaction to flow as speedy as possible barring emergencies and unforseable circumstances. Communication on both parties part is crutial in knowing expectations each way. At least the seller owes you an explanation PM as the courtesy. Take an extra minute to wrap it, pad it and a suitable secure carton. Hint a firearm wrapped in cheap toilet paper and stuffed inside 2 old cereal boxes taped together is not care in shipping.

That is good advice. I have purchased 8 firearms on the internet. No issues until now. Everyone communicated well and yes, there were some delays with shipping, no worries. There never was an issue with getting them transfered in a timely fashion.

I will let everyone know what happens and if it goes sour, I will for sure let EVERYONE know who, what, when, where, and why. :kickInTheNuts:

Why not, it's not like you're mailing anything. I don't make a payment until the firearm is in my name. That way I have something.

And what if the buyer backs out,or doesn't send the money,or the money order gets lost?Then you have no money,and the gun is in someone else's name.

I package up the gun,and as soon as payment arrives,I notify the owner,then ship the gun express mail,insured for more than I sold it for.The gun is shipped within 24hours,and the buyer is notified and provided with the tracking number.

I have 2 or 3 that I am looking to sell, and the only reason for them not being in the EE right now is that I need to find the proper packaging. I hardly find it fair to recieve payment, which is usually in the hundreds of dollars, then make a guy wait till you have the time to find packaging.
