"Trust" plays a big part in any transaction.
There is absolutely NO DANGER for the seller to initiate the transfer BEFORE he receives the money.
Take the following example:
- Seller initiates transfer and is given a transaction number from CFC.
- Seller gives transaction number to buyer who then releases the EMT
- Once transaction is accepted by CFC, and seller has the $$$, seller can then ship or request for ATT if restricted.
- "IF" buyer screws seller and doesn't send money, no sweat, seller still possesses the firearm and he then calls the CFC to "REVERSE" the transaction as the buyer has witheld payment. Gun gets re-registered to the seller and all that is lost is some honor for being an asswipe.
The CFC reverses transactions ever single day, it is really common.
In the above scenario, the seller shows a bit of TRUST, the buyer then feels "safe" doing this transaction and releases the cash; No Cash? No ship! Plain and simple.
Check out the other party on Canada.411; Get their address and phone number. CALL THEM, talk on the phone. This goes a long way to putting your fears to rest.
I just bought a PPK from a fellow CGN with a trader rating of 2. The deal went smooth as silk and the pistol is fricking beautiful, I don't even want to shoot it. Trust folks. The vast majority of firearms owners (CGN) are honest folks. If you have someones address and phone number and the subsequently screw you, you have a reference point to do a face-to-face with them. Use common sense and don't reach for those tin foil hats too quickly.
I have dealt a lot with CFC, sometimes it takes DAYS to get thru, sometimes it takes seconds (which aways freaks me out a bit).
