Issues with fellow CGN'er

The transaction should have been underway the moment after he received payment (i.e. money in hand). Providing the seller has some information from the buyer, it is just a phone call to initiate the transfer. At least get the ball rolling!

If the transfer is going to be, or is delayed; then the seller in this case should have the courtesy to inform the buyer (PM or phone call) right away. This waiting for several days is not on.

Honest trader ratings should based on prompt commuications and service...and of course a fair deal!

So my guy is coming through. I am now the official registered owner of new rifle.......... I await on pins and needles for the shipping.........

"Trust" plays a big part in any transaction.

There is absolutely NO DANGER for the seller to initiate the transfer BEFORE he receives the money.

Take the following example:
  • Seller initiates transfer and is given a transaction number from CFC.
  • Seller gives transaction number to buyer who then releases the EMT
  • Once transaction is accepted by CFC, and seller has the $$$, seller can then ship or request for ATT if restricted.
  • "IF" buyer screws seller and doesn't send money, no sweat, seller still possesses the firearm and he then calls the CFC to "REVERSE" the transaction as the buyer has witheld payment. Gun gets re-registered to the seller and all that is lost is some honor for being an asswipe.
The CFC reverses transactions ever single day, it is really common.

In the above scenario, the seller shows a bit of TRUST, the buyer then feels "safe" doing this transaction and releases the cash; No Cash? No ship! Plain and simple.

Check out the other party on Canada.411; Get their address and phone number. CALL THEM, talk on the phone. This goes a long way to putting your fears to rest.

I just bought a PPK from a fellow CGN with a trader rating of 2. The deal went smooth as silk and the pistol is fricking beautiful, I don't even want to shoot it. Trust folks. The vast majority of firearms owners (CGN) are honest folks. If you have someones address and phone number and the subsequently screw you, you have a reference point to do a face-to-face with them. Use common sense and don't reach for those tin foil hats too quickly.

I have dealt a lot with CFC, sometimes it takes DAYS to get thru, sometimes it takes seconds (which aways freaks me out a bit).

The trouble is that a lot of guys don't leave feedback! I have probably done twice the amount of deals as my feedback suggests, but a LOT of people just do not leave feedback:mad:

Fo myself as soon as someone told me he is a taker, I start the transfer and send the info ASAP to the buyer. I have done a lot of sale this way, and still , no problem arise. I think that most people here are serious, law-abiding citizen. I think we should'nt act like politicians and not trusting our brothers in arms...

And Yes, for me to get a trader is important, and I, like most , could have double my rating.

As has been noted, most gun folks are trustworthy and do not deliberately cause apprehension for the other party. I must say, most of those I have bought from or sold to have posted feedback, with possibly 5 total that did not. I always post feedback, unless it somehow slipped my mind, but if I get a memory "jog" I will post later. Just a common courtesy, in my mind. Regards, Eagleye.

I just did a transaction (more than a couple hundred $$$ )with a cgn that has a plus2 trade rating. No problems at all.The item and packaging were excellent.I would deal with him again without hesitation.Communications are very important in any transaction.

My first trade here under the present rating system was for $1800.Both buyer and seller had a rating of zero, but it was a very smooth transaction.I still only have a rating of 3 but I have bought and sold many guns over the years,on this forum,on others, and through other sources. In all that time I have only had one bad experience when I took a cheque that later bounced for barrel.

i think giving a trader rating should be manditory. as for dealing with people with no rating i have bought and sold with people with zero or low ratings, all good deals. how can newbys get a rating if nobody will deal with them i have done three times more deals than my rating show and only had one bad deal. i had already agreed to a price and was going to emt the money when the seller got a better offer and wouldn't honor our deal. i left him a negative.

I have never had anyone back out on a deal on the EE,but I did have one individual try some sneaky tactics to try and get me to reduce the price. He kept stalling, and feeding me concerns about the gun not fitting him,and about not being able to afford the gun because of a child going to school, and so on.I almost felt sorry for the guy,but I had already dropped my price, and was not prepared to drop it any more, since it was already very fair.We hadn't struck a deal after over a week of communications, including several messages and phone calls, when another buyer came along and offered me a better price than the first guy wanted to pay.Naturally,I sold the gun to the committed buyer. However while reading the EE only a couple of days later,I noticed a for sale add for the very same gun that I was selling, listed by the first guy that tried to buy mine.If he had the same gun,he obviously knew whether or not it fitted him.I searched his username and discovered that he had several adds for buying and selling guns,so it became obvious that he just wanted to get me to drop the price so he could buy my gun and resell it for profit.I actually had to laugh since he sounded so sincere on the phone. However if he ever answers another of my adds,I will not budge at all on my price for him.

I once had a pm saying " ill take it " I happened to be was away and before I had time to reply I had another pm from the same guy saying that he wouldnt' take it . I told him that I would cut him some slack because he was new but he was lucky not be dinged a "-" for that stunt.

Im not sure if that's a common occurence for you guys but I thought it was kind of odd.
