Help me, I want a rifle!

Get a Remington SPS in 7mm-08 for $540 minus the $40 rebate from Remington, put a Bushnell 3200 scope on it for under $300, Leupold rings and bases are about $80. Sling with sling swivels are like $40. Four boxes of 140 grain ammo and you have a little change left over from your purple $1000 bill.
I agree with all that, but the caliber. The 270 is alot more useful in S. Ont due to caliber restrictions that prohibit larger calibers.

Someone suggested looking at Trade X. I just did. Wow!

You could buy a real nice rifle there for not much money. Just need someone to help you."

Just call their 1-800 number and talk to Anthony; its nice to have someone on the other end that knows which way is up. Tony is your man!

Look at some of the very interesting European rifles that they have listed (Sabattini Rover) in 6.5X55. Less experienced shooters tend to be very parochial about North American calibres and mass-produced trash (and at the risk of being labelled a troll, I include Remington 700 rifles in that label!). A lot of the European rifles are of the quality that the NA makers used to turn out 40-50 years ago.
