Anybody know what setup this is. What will I need to mount a new elit3200? Thanks in advance. Slayer

Those are German quick detach bases. The matching rings probably cost as much your scope.

On my scope (an old Zeis) the rings are only on the bottom of the scope. Don't know what holds them on.

The latchs on the rear base are spring loaded. The scope snaps on and off.

:sniper:Thanks. I figgured they would be pricey. As to the action, I know nothing of this gun other than its a Belgum made Browning in 30-06. Some long family story behind this gun. Anyways thanks for the reply. Ill post the end result of this now project.

They are claw mounts. Try to contact New England Custom Guns as they sell EAW and other high end mounts. They may be able to help you out. I'd keep them on the rifle if it were mine.

A scoped SxS!? Now I've seen it all!:D

It is not uncommon to see scoped SxS rifles in Europe. They are usually in lighter calibers like 7x57R, 8x57 JRS etc. They have the claw mounts for when you go from hunting out of a stand (sometimes at night) to driven hunts in the bush.

I have the same claw mounts on my Mauser 8 mm. I had a local gunsmith mill a weaver base which he screwed onto the old bases so I could still remove the new set up and use my old scope. The new scope is an Elite 3200 as well. Good choice. ;)

This is a 8 x60R. Barrels are .318 I load the Barnes X bullets in 318. Never taken it hunting, but I would like to.

Hmm interesting.. I stand corrected :)

Cool calibre too, haven't heard much about it at all. Must be an old-world thing.

It is an old world thing. I have a cousin and a close friend who are avid hunters and their hunting styles and opportunities can be quite different, even in the same day. For example they may start the day by sitting in a high blind at the edge of a field waiting for a stag, where the shots could be on the longish side. Then they could go for a walk along the brush line searching for Roe deer. Again the shots would generally be mid to long range. They could then organize a drive through really heavy brush to rustle up some boar, and of course the action would be very fast and at close range. Then it would be back to the stand after sunset to wait for the boars to feed in the fields.

Additionally, there may be opportunities for fox, hare, pheasant and partridge - which is why combination guns and drillings are fairly popular.

Ganderite - you should take it hunting this year. That old rifle deserves to be out in the field again!
