Thanks. I figgured they would be pricey. As to the action, I know nothing of this gun other than its a Belgum made Browning in 30-06. Some long family story behind this gun. Anyways thanks for the reply. Ill post the end result of this now project.Those are German quick detach bases. The matching rings probably cost as much your scope.
On my scope (an old Zeis) the rings are only on the bottom of the scope. Don't know what holds them on.
The latchs on the rear base are spring loaded. The scope snaps on and off.

It is not uncommon to see scoped SxS rifles in Europe. They are usually in lighter calibers like 7x57R, 8x57 JRS etc. They have the claw mounts for when you go from hunting out of a stand (sometimes at night) to driven hunts in the bush.
