Blaser Tactical 2 feedback

bart,

Not sure I understand, but if you already picked up the Tactical 2 (which is not an LRS2 offshoot, since the barells are incompatible) and you have the Leupold, why not just mount it? Or is my understanding that you haven't paid for the rifle yet (since you say you have to fund it; you mean ammo?)?

Arrowhead,

Actually, what I managed to do was tighten the screws with the star-patterned slots opposite the levers on the QD mount (which is what I have), and it seems to have done the trick, despite my scope weighing a kilo! That's an impressive group @ 600m... I don't have a caliper, but here's my best group at 100m (dark circle with 'X' is 1" across, big hole = 4 shots, small hole = 1 miss):

You're lucky you get access to that Farnham range - who was your hookup to get you to shoot there??

Nice group! what load did you used?

My personnal best at 200y

At 200y got four of them in .096"

I was shooting at St-Bruno 1000y range, when the military closed the range they gave PQRA members access to the 600m range in Farnham

########, that's real impressive! Here's my best @ 200y:

The big hole is 4 shots, the small one is 1 miss (I can never get that 5th one!!). I'm real proud of this one, because I just did it with a couple of sandbags under the stock forend; no bipod, no rear bag... I just got in this groove and made that one hole.

It's all Federal Gold medal (in .308 Win.), and I have no clue how much powder they use...

So if I'd join the PQRA, I could shoot some targets at Farnham? Or is it more complicated than that?

Good shooting! if I remember corectly Fed Gold Match (168gr) use 42.5gr of IMR4064

Farnham membership is a little more complicated then that, I'll pm you the details...

I got mine at Ellwood Epps - great people to deal with; it was just sitting there for three years, brand new, until I bought it. However, for the East Coast, the distributor for Blaser is FN Sports, which has to be the slowest operation in the Universe. I think tectonic plates move faster than these people; if you do have to order a Blaser from them, don't be surprised if you have to wait six months. Hopefully you'll have something else to play with in the meantime!

Then you must have bought the Blaser LRS2, not the Tactical 2, which only came out last year.

Man, these things have jumped in price. It was merely 2 years ago that these could be had for ~4500 IIRC. For that amount I can have a custom build. Forget it, Remmy 40X it is for me I guess! And the Tactical 2 doesn't come in 6mm BR??

How much are they selling for now? Mine was cheaper because it was imported in '05...

That's correct, but I already mentioned that eariler in the thread when I said that:
I have the LRS2, the main differences between the two are that I don't have that Picattiny rail mount and it's not available in .338 Lapua Magnum... See my thread here.

FWIW the Tactical 2 comes with muzzle brake, mirage band, rear monopod and bipod.
redman, I don't think you were quoted $4200 for a 338LM LRS2. There is a hefty upcharge to 338LM.

You are 100% correct, and I guess I should've specified that in my post; I was quoted $4200 for what I have now (.308 Win.). I thought the prices would be comparable between the two - didn't expect 2000$ for the upgrade.

According to the link on your website, it's a muzzle brake + bipod. Still, for that and a larger caliber, two large is a hefty price for the upgrade; obviously, your prices are determined by your distributor (Blaser USA?) so don't take this as an accusation regarding your pricing. I've done business with you before (the Blaser QD scope mount) and I found it to be entirely favorable.
