Which shotgun? M97 Trench or Dominion Arms 12.5'?

I'm at it again! In my effort to add to my already unweildy collection I've now decided I need a shotgun. My choices are:

A) Norinco Type 97 Trench gun.
This would fit into my collection because I pretty much soley collect WW1/2 stuff. 12 ga cartridges are cheap to shoot, shotguns are fun to tool around with, and the slamfire feature on these guys makes me want to giggle like a little girl. I haven't read much negative about them other than that they're norinco. What's your opinion?

B) Dominion Arms 12.5 inch barrel 12 gauge. It's Black, it's short, it's vicious. It's also almost the exact same price as the type 97. This guy is almost too cool to be true in a lot of ways, plus it would be a great light weight short hiking gun... and no, I'm not worried that much about bears, I just like combining my passions of hiking and shooting if possible:D I have heard the finish and internal mechanisms leave something to be desired though...

What's the consensus? I like them both, only will buy one. I don't need either, but I want both:rolleyes:

I have the 12.5" Grizzly, I'm very happy with it, and it's a great deal for the price and all the 870 aftermarket parts fit. The finish doesn't compare to my 590 but its still good. Screw in chockes are also a good feature.

I'd pick the 97. Love mine. If your out of shells.....it can be used just as effectively. :D:D:D

It is a Norinco. I think the bayonet was $115.00 on Ebay. It is an original Remington Bayonet though. There are reproductions that should be cheaper (but unsure).

How do you find the quality of the trench? I'm always distrustful or the norc products and am curious how this one fares in the durability department? With both of these guns I'm not looking to do anything to it once I have it. It should be ready to rock and roll out of the box, and remain so for years to come (I'm used to mosins, if a part brakes, a nail or part of a screen door can be used to fix it)
 
Had a Norc '97. The slam fire feature sure made me smile. Only put ~35 rounds through mine before I sold her, so I can't comment on the reliability.
Now I have a DA Grizzly mounted in a Knoxx Spec Ops stock. This baby makes me giggle like an idiot when I have her out :dancingbanana: .

What's the consensus? I like them both, Good start only will buy one Pffft....... cheapskate:D :p . I don't need either Blasphemy!, but I want both There's your answer

What made you sell it? The slam fire is quite a draw for me...

Would you take the DA Grizzly if it was using its original stock?

You've got a strong case for me buying both, but for the time being I'm holding an extra weekends job so my firearms habit doesn't kill my wallet, so it will take a while to be able to afford either one.
 
You can get brand new Remington 870 express 12 ga slug guns for $299,99 & 3 1/2'' super mag for $339,99 right now
I have Rem slug gun & a 12'5 Grizzly both work great but with the special Remington price now I'd go Remington over Chinese copy

I sold it long before the 12.5" DA's came along. It was just sitting there, taking up space in the safe when I decided to thin the herd a bit. It was the one to go.
I've got a 14" Norc 780 in original form, and it's a lot of fun too. But, the DA in the Knoxx for some reason puts a s**t eating grin on my face :shotgun: :D .

I've got the M97 cowboy model. You might have an issue with 'ready to rock and roll out of the box'. I got mine, gave it a good cleaning and oiling, brought it to the range and it was really tight. I needed two hands to pump it (which resulted in some funny contortions as I also had to keep the muzzle down range). After a few rounds it loosened up a bit but was still really tight. I gave it to my gunsmith and he ripped it apart (and threaded it for screw in chokes). He polished everything that was rubbing and it runs like a champ now.

I'm sure it would have eventually loosened up, but it wasn't much fun to shoot as it was.
 
My vote is for the DA Grizz 12.5. I got mine about a week ago and had a blast shooting it. I've since added a knoxx stock and looking forward to taking it out soon to try that.
 
I found the new batch of Grizzlies are much better quality , and fit wise. Mine was smooooth right out of the box. I haven't shot it yet, but I sure like the looks!

After Recieveing my DA grizz 12.5 "Thank you Can-Ammo!! :D", I deffinatly reccommend one.

They are a liberals worst nightmare, and the quality suprised me for a chinese built firearm.

Overall very pleased so far, now I must go test fire it.

If you're into military stuff, I think a Stevens 77E might be your ticket. They're pretty reasonably priced if you can find one and makes a nice project.

Some come with 20" barrels some longer. You can cut that down to 18.5". Makes a nice trench gun, I think. :)
