Nice A3. Just picked up another MK1 tonight myself, but photobucket won't let me download pics, so I'll try again tomorrow. Gota love those Springfields!

For what it's worth, here are a few pics of the MK1 03. Some are a little out of focus, I suspect do to the wicket cold I have. But I swear they looked clear when I took them last night...

Here are my repatriated Long Branch No4 mk1*s. From BDL ltd. Although technically these were July purchases, the international shipping paperwork took a while. Actually it was the Registration that took the longest, American export paperwork and Customs just flew once I had all my sh*t together. 9 days including two weekends from his door to mine! I would not think twice about importing again it went so well.

Anyway the top rifle is a 1943, 5 groove bbl with grooved handguards, forend notched for cutoff and button style cocking piece and a long butt and the rifling is pristine. And of course all matching numbers. This one is my baby.

The second one is a 1950 LB, again all matching numbers and again pristine bore. This one is SN# 95L7888 placing it in the last 2500 LB rifles and the last month or so of production at the Long Branch factory.

Both still have plenty of cosmo to clean up, and will look even better after that's been done, but I couldn't wait any longer to post them.

Nice Gary D!
Just out of curiousity, does the 43 have a 41 serial number, like 0L###X or 1L?

Note that it's a Long Branch/Canadian Arsenals rebuild, you can see the greenish tinged parkerizing. I wonder if it was a 41 that they replaced the receiver on, then put those 41 parts back on to...is there a s/n on the bottom of the forend?

Cantom, yes it was Canadian Arsenal rebuild. Although it certainly looks the part of one of the '41s that was recalled and upgraded the serial numbers are mid '43, and there aren't any numbers on the wood I can see. They may yet appear when I get some of the cosmo off of her, but I don't think so. That doesn't rule out that possibility, but it does make it a long shot. One thing for certain with LB they, like the Canadian troops, did things their own way and sometimes that doesn't always coincide with what was the norm. Either way A CA rebuilt '43 with '41 parts packed in cosmo is a mystery.

"Hey! what is that cutout in the receiver's left wall? wasn't it the cutout for the Pedersen device?"
PP.

Thats right on the money. This ones a 1919 receiver, but arsenal refinished with a 1942 barrel. Haven't went through it with a fine tooth comb, but it appears to be all correct Springfield parts. I have another MK 1 Springfield completely orignal from 1920. I think I have nine of these "old muskets" now in various states & configurations. I love the Enfields & the Mausers but I decided sometime ago to stick to the 03 collecting. Limited funds, but hopefully a nice collection some day.
