Ok.............

This has been milling around in my head since the EESA three gun match this past spring.

The idea sprang from the incredible mind of our very own BMW.

The basic concept is to have a GIGANTIC Three Gun match in Ontario.

Three clubs.

Three weekends

Three Matches

Three guns!

Sort of a Triangle Match on Steroids.........

One weekend you shoot a rifle match, another you shoot a shotgun match and yet another you shoot a handgun match. The totality is put into an IPSC 3 gun Tournament. We are bandying around the idea of 8 to 10 stages of each for handgun, rifle and Shotgun.

To me it seems logical to have the rifle portion of the match at EESA as we are the only IPSC type club that has longer (300m) ranges.

Barrie and Guelph would make likely options for the Handgun and Shotgun portions.

What we need of course would be some sort of organizational team to work together to make it a reality.

Things to clear up that I can think of are:

Stage Design
Cost sharing?
Profit Sharing?

We could do it on three consecutive weekends.............or

We could put it on staggered weekends (limiting divorce)

I think that we would limit it to a Level II match for a first run.................at least I am not going to make it a L3 event at this point.

Clubs could share some resources in terms of targets and props where requried.

I think that it would be prudent to limit the sign up for the handgun portion giving preference to those who are going to join in the entire tournament.

It might even be a "Saturday" only match for the THREE gunners as we are a relatively rare breed. Or if there is enough interest we could spread it out over a Saturday and Sunday with Set ups going in on Friday.

What we would need of course are a group of Match Directors to stand up to take the reigns so to speak at their respective clubs.

Myself and Weeman are good to go as far as trying to get the Rifle portion off the ground at EESA.

Oh and we need a catchy name for the event................

It is important to remember that if you do not have all three types of guns........people are ALWAYS willing to lend their gear.

Well, if I'm not in St Jean ... I'll come live at the range again for it.

If I've got enough notice, I'll try to get some Bud Girls to come out.

I'm totally for it but 3 separate weekends for me is a little much to travel from Eastern Ontario. How about a long weekend where you shoot rifle at one club 1 day, pistol at another club the second day, and shotgun at a third club the 3rd day - or variations thereof

That would not work as it leaves nobody to actually run the match.....and I really would like to shoot it.

The basic idea is that the EESA Gang runs the EESA match (but we shoot it the day before). That frees us up to shoot the other matches and vice versa.

If everything is done on one weekend I do not know how those running it could actually shoot it. I am a nice guy but I will be damned if I am going to organize a match and not shoot it. It has happened plenty of times by accident (to busy fixing stuff to shoot) but I really would not want to organize it such that it is impossible.

I'd almost fly in every weekend if my days off worked out, to shoot a match like this.

Any thought of this match being the offficial Ontario 3-gun championship?

That was actually the genesis of the idea. BMW thought we could make it the Canadian Champiionships......but that would not be fair for those people who were any distance from Ontario.

I think that it would be the defacto Ontario Championships. Of course that might put it into Level III status which I would rather not do at this point.

I am in for the hand gun portion have no shotgun or rifle and will help out where I can :dancingbanana::D

Ah but that is the true joy of three gun.. You can always borrow!! Seriously.

I have NEVER been to a three gun match were guns were not shared far and wide. Just provide ammo.

Heck this weekend on my squad we had everything being borrowed. From handguns to rifles and shotguns. IPSCers are great like that generally but 3 gunners seem to take it even further.

I have two ARs (well one is my son's) and an 870 that you can borrow.

I would suggest that if it is it should be billed as the
"IPSC 3-gun Championship" as to avoid confusion with any other large "3-gun" events that may occur that perhaps are not IPSC
;)

One suggestion. If you are serious, and want three seperate weekends, pin down dates really early. With enough warning, I can head off She Who Will Be Obeyed and keep those weekends free.

Oh I am serious about taking on the EESA portion.........but we would need more people to step up from other clubs.

I talked to "G" at Barrie on the weekend and he seemed interested in taking on Shotgun at Barrie.

I concur with Storm. However John your suggestion is not a bad one but a good one for a single club to put on a large three gun. Hope ya still come out for the match bet you will say that was worth ever dime......or if ya don't I'll buy the beer to drowned your sorrows .:runaway:;)

Cheers
