Ok.............
This has been milling around in my head since the EESA three gun match this past spring.
The idea sprang from the incredible mind of our very own BMW.
The basic concept is to have a GIGANTIC Three Gun match in Ontario.
Three clubs.
Three weekends
Three Matches
Three guns!
Sort of a Triangle Match on Steroids.........
One weekend you shoot a rifle match, another you shoot a shotgun match and yet another you shoot a handgun match. The totality is put into an IPSC 3 gun Tournament. We are bandying around the idea of 8 to 10 stages of each for handgun, rifle and Shotgun.
To me it seems logical to have the rifle portion of the match at EESA as we are the only IPSC type club that has longer (300m) ranges.
Barrie and Guelph would make likely options for the Handgun and Shotgun portions.
What we need of course would be some sort of organizational team to work together to make it a reality.
Things to clear up that I can think of are:
Stage Design
Cost sharing?
Profit Sharing?
We could do it on three consecutive weekends.............or
We could put it on staggered weekends (limiting divorce)
I think that we would limit it to a Level II match for a first run.................at least I am not going to make it a L3 event at this point.
Clubs could share some resources in terms of targets and props where requried.
I think that it would be prudent to limit the sign up for the handgun portion giving preference to those who are going to join in the entire tournament.
It might even be a "Saturday" only match for the THREE gunners as we are a relatively rare breed. Or if there is enough interest we could spread it out over a Saturday and Sunday with Set ups going in on Friday.
What we would need of course are a group of Match Directors to stand up to take the reigns so to speak at their respective clubs.
Myself and Weeman are good to go as far as trying to get the Rifle portion off the ground at EESA.
Oh and we need a catchy name for the event................
It is important to remember that if you do not have all three types of guns........people are ALWAYS willing to lend their gear.
