Training Interest?

I really would be surprised if the CFO had ANYTHING at all to do with something you guys ran in BC or Alberta; Tactical Response comes up all the time, and it doesn't seem to be an issue.

In Western Canada it won't be an issue as everyone here has long term ATTs. It's only out East where issues arise with having to justify why you go to the range to the CFOs.

If there is a class in Ontario, count me in. Both rifle and 1911. Always wanted to learn proper techniques including routine maintenance.

Just throwing this out there....

It you want a range that is really open to damn near anything (as long as the law and safety are paramount), check out the Rocky Gun Club. The Canadian Cowboy Action Finals were held there this summer and the range can definitely hold several dozen shooters in the sand pits. As well, there is a camping area so you don't have to pay for a hotel. Unfortunately, the town of Rocky Mtn house is a bit of a dive but they do have beer and (homely) strippers during the week

My soon to be wife will be coming to ensure the Admin is taken care of - and pictures for those who want during the class are taken.

As a result - cancel me out on the strippers etc.

I will be offline for the next week with some pre wedding seclusion.

I would be very interested also.

Kevin, you mentioned LAV's pistol smithing course, i think with the "Import" problem of getting frames, slides and proper tools for Larry's class requirements, it could turn into a BIG problem getting them up here into Canada (and HUGE expesnse). You might consider his "1911 Operators" course, its a how to run and maintain a hard use 1911. Something to consider.

Thanks
Mike

That sounds like some really good expierience... just wonder what kind of stuff could be covered in a Mil/LE only course?

I feel all alone out here in NS where there no cool shooting training :(.

If you this way give me a shout and ill be there! (Hell i might even show up to ontario!)

LOTS of people want to know that..... We're hiring, join up and find out. And if you don't want federal(and at this point, who would...) all the municipal and provincial agencies are taking who ever they can just like us.

Kevin and BR, I'd love to get some extra rifle work. I've focused on pistol the last little while, so could use the extra trigger time with the ar/m16/c8.

I'll do what I can to get to where ever the courses are run.

Ontario(and Ottawa) sucks for various reason. I'll happily make the trip to God's country!
Alberta for those that don't know. :)

Oh trust me im neck deep in the green machine right now... im just trying to figure out a way i can get my unit to pick up the bill for private training :D;)

I'd be in for pistol in Alberta for sure I'd love to learn how to really use my 1911. I'd possibly go for carbine too if I could bring my M1 carbine for ####z and giggles.

As long as you guys can put up with someone that knows less than nothing about tactical anything I'm there.

I would definately would be interested and I probably know 2-3 others that would be in on it too.

Looking for Carbine and Pistol, Shottie too if available

Worthwhile training is worth travelling for!!

I travelled COMPLETELY x-country to attend Tac Response in BC. I'd be willing to do it agiain once I see the course outline.

I'm in for MIL/ LE training only too.

Kevin, good to hear you are getting married.
No reason why you should be single and happy while the rest of us are married :D

Congrats all the same :dancingbanana:

Regards,

I would be interested in any tactical, movement type course, be pistol or carbine. Alberta is the place to be. Always ready to learn something new.

I'm also government property, so that's a situation I'm in too.

Maybe if it could be chalked up as professional development you could get the Crown to pick up a part of the tab, maybe at least transportation and accommodations?

If such a thing comes at a time that's convenient for me, I'll definitely try to sign up if I can get at least part of the tab picked up...

You need to talk to your traning cells. I have gotten several courses approved for professional development. Rations, quarters and transport were covered. Unfortunately, I either got deployed or sent on course, so I missed out on them. It is how you write the memo and how you justify it that will get it approved.
YMMV,
Hoddie
