ISSF and IPSC

ISSF Demanded changes to IPSC that inherently changed IPSC to Bullseye. IPSC Internationally properly told ISSF to P-O.
Please don't insinuate in the least that this was started by IPSC. It was started and is maintained by ISSF and their greedy leadership. Do you see IPSC publishing outright lies about the sport of ISU? No. Is IPSC trying to kill off ISSF? - No. Is IPSC telling our membership to not involve themselves with ISU competitions? No. ISSF are the antagonists.

FWIW, IPSC Canada and CSSA have absolutely no issues. We've donated funds to them in the past, been involved with them in the 2006 election and as you can see by my writings in Diligentia, encourage membership in CSSA (& NFA). They support all forms of shooting, and we both recognize and support that. I'm sure we'll partner up in the future too. As for the Shooting Federation of Canada, IPSC Canada feels there's room for both of us. If there's a problem there - I'm not aware of it.

I apologise in advance for getting on my pulpit and hijacking this thread.

I meant no insinuation that IPSC International was the antagonist, by the way I’m a proud IPSC member, and I think my real point is being missed here.

My point is that inflammatory, divisive comment hurts our community of interest and we all need to think before we speak or post. I should even have been more careful in my earlier post not to sound antagonistic towards IPSC.

Like it or not, there is a battle for the opinions for the majority being fought, and the majority do not own guns, and believe it or not do not care about the rights of those who do own guns.

Regardless of the creed of your sport, we all face similar issues in Canada and we have to stop the infighting. Whether we have one organization or ten doesn’t matter as much as demonstrating cooperative good citizenship. Face it, in Canada it isn’t likely we are going to get ourselves under a single governing or representative organization before the next change of government. We have maybe 2 to with luck 10 years before an anti-gun government comes to power.

Did IPSC pick a fight with ISSF? Is the ISSF trying to drown IPSC? Doesn’t matter in Canada, what the majority sees is our apparent hostility and disorganization.

I see the same damn thing happening in shotgun sports, Sporting Clays is the new hot young sport competing with ATT Trap/Skeet/Olympic Trap/Skeet. The established clubs are PO with the groups setting up in fields and drawing away shooters. There is so much bad talk going on people end up withdrawing from the sport.

Some troll a few weeks ago posted a “question” about the MDPL saying he had heard they were a bunch of “hayseeds” and how he didn’t want to shoot with them. It is that type of vitriol, even when it is disguised in more polite forms like this thread that causes harm to our community.

I dare say rifle and/or pistol action shooting be it IPSC or IDPA based are the two fastest growing shooting sports right now. I don't see that changing anytime soon given the demographics of the sports. While I would encourage anyone who wants to shoot bullseye (rifle or pistol) to get invovled I see, at least the pistol side slowly dying off.

The younger generation spends their youth playing video action games and as tehy grow older the transition to action pistol is just a natural.

Whether ISSF ever gets around to calling IPSC a sport or not matters little to me. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck it's a GD duck. We are placing way to much emphasis what some European Sports Org. does or does not do. If we change the political climate (read public opinion) in Canada handgun sports will get funding from the Feds. If the political landscape remains as it is right now we won't.

Take Care

Bob

It is not an IPSC book,..but I would expect a little more coverage of this very popular SPORT.
I guess what I am saying is I would have liked to see at least one article in regards to IPSC.

Well, the obvious counterpoint would be, "Who's going to write the articles." We are a community of people that moan and whine about how nobody writes IPSC articles for publications (ranging from this CSSA publication, to NFA to even our own Dilligentia and provincial newsletters), yet nobody steps up to write them.

I'm not slamming you, Moe, I'm no better myself. The point is, if an IPSC shooter is not going to write these articles, who do we expect to do it? I'm glad you stepped up to the plate, Moe. You're a better man than me, I just can't find the time to do it myself.

The only solution I see here is to have all IPSC members join ISSF. Install our people at the top of the organization and vote ourselves into legitamcy. Kind of a hostile takeover shall we say

To do that you would have to shoot ISSF..

Then by the time you are at the top..

YOU ARE ASLEEP!!

At the international level... probably... at the provincial and national level... not really. You just have to show up at the annual meeting and ask to be on the board of director (Of course, they'll expect you to do some work, like organising match)
