Hello everyone,

Any H&K P2000 owners out there that would like to share their thoughts on the gun? I'm kind of interested in the 9mm version. Not sure if I should go with the LEM or SA/DA. Thanks very much.

The P2000 is an excellent pistol. It's relatively small except for the stupid 106mm barrel our Police state requires. Compared with a P7, they're actually the same length except for the protruding barrel on the P2000. Accuracy is very good and it is extremely reliable. (HK"s are the only pistols I've fired that have never had ANY hiccups during the first 400 or so rounds. Even the Beretta 92 F in my hands have had break in jams). The various backstraps make it customizable to fit your hand. My trigger pull improved with installation of the small one.

LEM comes with different weights of pull. Most in the US use a 7-8lb. LEM.
The LEM sold by Wolverine has the V1 LEM which is about 5-6 pounds. Basically the take up is very light till you hit the sear then it releases around 5 lbs. If you ever pulled the trigger of an A/S P99 it's like the long SA mode but the P2000 doesn't 'lock' into the short SA mode. If you release pressure trigger returns to beginning position. The ones in the U.S. have more resistance with the initial takeup.

After the slide reciprocates, the trigger resets after a short return. However compared to the P99 the reset is longer, kind of like a Browning Hipower which also has a long trigger reset for a single action pistol.

Before you worry about the LEM trigger....I am a short trigger pistol fan and love the triggers on P99's, 1911's and P7M8's. That said I'm able to shoot the V1 LEM as well as those other pistols. To my finger at least it feels like a single action pistol with a bit more trigger takeup.

Not also consider that the V1 LEM from Wolverine's come with Tritium sights for just a little bit more than the DA/SA makes it an obvious choice for me.

Different people will disagree, I suppose the DA/SA does give you shorter trigger reset in the SA shots but I've never been a fan of the first long heavy DA pull of such pistols and prefer the same pull throughout.

Now I love my P7M8's but if I were on a budget or knew how I shot with various HK's I would today just buy 2 P2000's for the price of a P7M8 and be done with it. Cheaper and much easier to clean and replace parts that the intricate P7.

Basically...I love the P2000 and highly recommend it.

I've posted quite a lot of info about mine. Have a look at these threads:

I was not exactly sold on mine until I got the extended baseplates. After the initial honeymoon period I was like, "This grip is too damn small.. when are my extended baseplates coming in!" But since I got them it has totally turned around my experience with this gun. Now I'm starting to think that this is possibly my favorite gun. This weekend I was using it and I was really impressed with the results I was getting. I shot this group drawing from a holster, shooting the first shot DA, and then rapid firing the other 9 shots into the main circle:

I'd like to say that the high one out of the circle was the DA shot, but it isn't. It was one of the SA shots. Actually the DA on this gun is really shootable. You have to take up the slack to get good results, but that is the way it is with all shooting.

The picking off of the corners was something I was doing later, I missed the top left corner (high off the page) but I hit the others.

The big circle is 5 inches across (shot from about 10 yards). The small circles are 1 and 3/4 inch across, shot from the same distance.

Overall, I really like the gun. I find that with the extended baseplates I am almost pushing down on them with my pinky, but the grip is extremely solid the way I am holding it - total opposite of my experience shooting them without the baseplates where it felt like I was always at risk of losing my grip on the gun.

Personally I would way rather have a P2000 than a P30L. The P30 looks interesting, but I am not a fan of guns that are long off the front. My girlfriend shoots Berettas. She loves them, but I don't like the balance of long guns. The only thing the HK45 and P30 have on the P2000 is the better mag release. The side panels are not an issue (for me at least) on the P2000. The last thing I would want would be more plastic on the side of the gun. I use the "M" backstrap (which is on there when you buy the gun) and have never had the desire to try the "S" or "L" backstraps.

P2000s are great. Just order some baseplates unless you have hands no bigger than my girlfriend (her fingers don't touch the extended baseplate when she grips the gun).

With 'neutered mags' being what they are. I simply cannot STAND a big full size gun knowing I'm 'missing' up to 35% of the original capacity. The size of the gun loses its function so to speak.

Hence why I love little guns so much. only missing about 3 out of 13 is more palatable when the gun is small. This is also why I prefer my P2000 to my Walther P99 which loses 5 or 6 rounds (depending on generation of magazine) to be Canada legal.

Thanks for all the responses. I went out today and bought the P2000 SA/DA version from one of the site sponsors, Target Sports. ( I might add that I got a really good deal on it. ) Now I just have to wait for the transfer to come in before I can take her out to the range.

How much did you guys pay for the pistol and the magazine? ( I did not ask Wolverine the price of the magazines before I handed over the CC for 3 extra mags....)

I was quoted 998 for the pistol by the sales girl at Wolverine - I did not shop around. How did I do???

That's what I paid about a month ago, LOVE the P2000 shot off close to 3000 rounds not one problem. The magazines we're pretty $$$$ if I remember correctly I think they we're close to 60 bucks a pop, don't care though love every thing about the purchase.

I also bought mine from Wolverine the sale's girl was great to deal with vary friendly and helpful.

Enjoy your new P2000 guy's I'm sure you will not regret your purchase.

I've bought so many HK's from wolverine, I just email an order with my customer number and a gun appears a week later in the mail!!!

I think that is a good deal. I paid something like $1,050 from my local shop ... or in that range... back in April.

Awesome little guns the P2000. I stand by my advice though... order those extgended baseplates. I got mine from Wolverine. I don't know if they got a bunch of them or what. Before I ordered mine they weren't even sure if they could get them... but yes they were able to. Hopefully they brought in a barrel full of them... cuz in my view they are much needed for that gun, and it seems that the guns are starting to sell now.

I don't know that they did get extras in. I still have a couple if anyone is looking for them.

Wolervine told me the P2000 comes with night sight, when I asked them about a set of trijicon.

Can someone confirm this??? I do not believe they come with tritium night sight......or do they?

I thought it came with "luminescent" sights...Ie; non -radioactive material

This is right. At least, this is how mine is. Apparently you cannot manufacture/sell products which contain radioactive materials in Germany (at least most consumer products I guess... obviously they need it for some industries, like hospitals, universities, etc.), so if any HK products have night sights they must be putting them on in the U.S.

As far as I know that is not happening with the P2000's we are getting in Canada. The sights they do have are quite nice. They will glow (dimly) for a bit. They might help a bit in low light scenarios (including the shooting range at times), but they are not going to be much good in the dark.
