PP/PPK Value

Rebarreling goes for between $100 - $150.
Converting a .32 to .380 is a little more expensive as some work has to be done to the bolt face (possibly the extractor arm) if I remember correctly.

Perfect thanks Griffoneur.

What I think I am going to do is have a friend with 12-6 buy one send it to a smith to get rebarreled have another friend who is a verifier get it re-classed and volla then i can own it!

:redface:Stop embarassing yourself !

I just attempted (Jun '08) to export an original German PPK and a Manurhin PPK to Michigan and was denied based on GCA '68 regs (cited by BICE/US Customs). If there is a way around this I'd like to know what it is. I'm not sure that anything has changed in the past 4 months.

I embarrass myself fairly regularly - not every day, but regularly. There's usually no need to get up early to do that...;)

Surprise!.... Some US Customs agents aren't keeping current on laws & policies

A lot of the US Customs bureaucrats & officials who make these decisions do not know the current law and are still stuck on the old REPEALED Clinton ban on "assault weapons & Saturday Night Specials (75 point system)" criteria & think that they still apply & are too lazy to check their sources. It's easier to stamp REFUSED on the application & go back to reading his/her pocket novel.

It's like the half of the Canadian CBSA & Customs officials who keep telling me & other importers that it is illegal to import or possess hollow point handgun ammo in Canada & again who are too lazy to check their sources. I just take it one level higher & its cleared up.

Imagine........a lazy civil servant........they're about as rare as fish with scales or sh!t that stinks.

Excuse my ignorance

Great, then when we get 12-6 recinded, we can chop the barrel back to its original length. :)

I kind of keep my ear to the ground for rumors on impending legislation & policy changes on both sides of the 49th parallell.

when we get 12-6 recinded

:eek:Who is going to do that?...................& when??.......................& how??

The CPC?

Do tell.......I like to be pleasantly surprised...........most of the gun law related surprises during the last 2 decades have been unpleasant ones.

With Obama a handshake & an oath away from the US Presidency I don't expect that trend to change anytime soon.

That extended PPK looks like my girlfriends Dacshund that always keeps trying to hump my leg.

When the dog gets all worked up it's PP is almost as long as the dog itself.

Griffoneur, your PPK looks very very very ###y!!~~~~!!

what do I need for getting a 12.6/12.7 handgun? How about those 22LR (12.6) handguns?

I only have PAL for restricted and non-restricted. what els do I need?

My PPK has been reclassified to RESTRICTED due to the 107mm barrel.

If you want a orginal size 12-6, you need a close relative who has 12-6 class to transfer you a 12-6. This then becomes a 12-7 which you may possess. It does NOT give you 12-6 priviledges to acquire other 12-6's.

Hopefully, one day, we can get the 12-6 crap repealed.

Re discussion about the power of a 380 vs. a 38 snubbie.

Some 380 pistols are blowback actions; others lock up like a 9mm. The latter can be loaded a little hotter.

I load my blowbacks to 900 fps and my lock ups to 1000.
