Metric Targets will no longer be authorised from 1 January 2009.
as per V. Pinto
Is that right?

Can someone elaborate on that.

Thanks

Why they are gone?... it's all in the name of PC... the anti crowd says "your shooting a humanoid target you must be training to shoot humans" ... and all that crap...

I guess I gotta get me some before they are gone... Guess they any leftover stock should be cheap!

Hey anyone know how an Ontario Club could start shooting USPSA?

I believe during the CPSA/OPSA nonsense, one or more clubs here in Ontario tried to go that route. I don't know what the current practical answer would be.

While I will miss the old girl, I recognize that targets have been an issue within IPSC since day one. I seem to recall when I first started, the previos general assembly had put a moritorium on all target discussion for (?) 5 years as the dissention was great.

The Classic target is challenging, and I don't feel terribly deprived using it alone.

That being said, this discussion makes me want to design a course of fire requiring a strong hand only Mozambique from a Rhodesian Wall.

Al Cap Is Alive And Well: Schmoo Targets Next!

The Real Solution to be seen soon at a range near you will be the official re-issue of "Schmoo Targets" pioneered by Al Capp in "Little Abner". Also the Blob Target...a gooey mass that absorbs hits and emits a flourescent glow..man I cant belive how PLOTICAL CORRECTNESS IS CORRUPTING OUR NOT SO COMMON SENSE!!". No Metric Targets? How hard is it to make a home grown version?
Lets Ban Printing Presses, cardboard and pencils..You Never Know WHO Might get them and make Metric Targets...

EEPSA anyone?

LOL!

Targets are only an issue to those with either no backbone, no brains or both.

yeah I would shoot that ..

Im sick of all the PC bs...anybody who voted to take away metrics is an anti gunner pos..

Who "banned" metric targets?

I'm new to target shooting. I did a search and found a picture of a metric target.

So who "banned" metric targets? Are you guys saying it is illegal to buy or sell a metric target in Canada? Or are you saying that some target shooting association has banned them from competitions?

IDPA or USPSA is the way to go. Never did like the politic's of Canadian IPSC

IDPA has to low of a round count for my taste. It also has a large degree of score determined by others in terms of R/Os.

Oh and this is not a case of Canadian IPSC Politics. It is WORLD IPSC Politics.

I am not an IPSC shooter but do shoot IDPA and I am not sure what you mean by this Storm. If you are talking about penalties assesed for the improper use of cover it is up to the shooter to ensure that he is following the rules as laid out (50% of your "a zone"and your feet must be concealed when shooting from a position of concealment) as for the scoring of the target itself the advantage is the shooters as all targets are scored from a distance of 3 feet and in the case of a disagreement between the shooter and the S/O the shoter is given the advantage

And from what I understand your score in IPSC depends on the other shooters score(in your division) if I am wrong please feel free to correct me.

This only applies to people who shoot sanctioned IPSC matches. Though with no one using the classics they will become hard to find. As others have pointed out, the IDPA and CDPA targets will still be available from your regular sources!

(IDPA) ...has a large degree of score determined by others in terms of R/Os.

With all due respect to *DPA SO's everywhere, while the rules are clear there is still a fair bit of subjectivity in how they are scored/enforced. IPSC has a thick book of rules that removes a lot of subjectivity.

I shoot and love both!
