This is awesome news!! Thanks for pointing it out Ghostie, and thanks Quester for being on top of it!!! :)

Question is; when you order say a 229 in 22lr, is the centerfire conversion kit registered?? You then have one frame and two slide/barrels with two reggies?

I hope that's not the case...

I'd sell both my Mosquito and P22 for a 229 in 22lr :dancingbanana:

i wonder if you can get a 220 with beavertail ? id like that 220 sa with beavertail

The pictures from TopGunSupply (see my first post, this thread) show that the 220 SAO has the beavertail.

That is an interesting (if not all that practical... or necessary) feature that I am interested in too.

Only frames are registered!!

But this whole thing doesn't work the other way, does it? I have a gorgeous SIG P220 and would love to convert it to .22 now and then but there is no top end i can buy to make this happen, is there?

SIG has announced they'll be releasing a .22lr conversion kit for owners of P220 pistols... they just aren't shipping that kit yet... hopefully within the next few months.

Pricing is in the $400 to $475 range depending on currency. Back when the dollar was at PAR we had them priced at $399.99 but now with dollar in the 1.25 to 1.30 range you're looking at @ $475 or $480. Who knows what it will be at when the kits are finally available :)

SIG 22LR Conversion Kits

I have a Sig Sauer P226R in 40S&W. Fantastic handgun, never had a single FTL or FTF. I bought the .22LR Conversion Kit and I've had nothing but problems with it. I've lost track how many FTL's I've had. The shells constantly jam and will not load. Another problem is that the recoil spring is too weak to push the slide forward. The slide sticks at the back without "heavy" lube.

I've contacted Sig, they told me to contact a Canadian warranty dealer. There is one in BC. I've contacted them several times by Email outlining the problem and I've never even received a reply.

I've never been so disappointed by a purchase before. I would advise NOT to buy this kit until Wolff (www.gunsprings.com) starts making spring kits for these conversion kits. I'm sorry I bought mine. I could of bought a decent, entire handgun for what I paid for my kit.

Uh oh... here we go again? I've been looking for a decent review of the kit on the U.S. sights. Can anybody link me to one on SIGforums or something like that?

But what you have said is not encouraging. I guess I will start out with the obvious question... just like we did with the Mosquito two years ago... what kind of ammo did you use. Do the CCI Mini-mags make a difference?

Edit: O.k., I found some stuff here:

I've tried over a dozen types of ammunition. When it loads any shell properly, there is no problem with cycling the slide to the rearmost position and ejecting the spent brass. The problem is that the spring isn't strong enough to pick up a new shell and move it into the chamber. This is the point where it usually jams. If I really "lube" the slide up everywhere, it will work for awhile, but it is really messy. I'm certain a stronger spring would solve my problem, but none are available.

If anyone wants this conversion kit, and think they can get it to work, you can have it for half what I paid for it. $250.00 with 2 magazines and SIG Blue Case.

wow... well this just got taken off my list. was interested in 22's due to very cheap ammo cost,. but now im turned off . thanks for your input unlisted.handle i know you may be that one person who has a problem. but im just turned off how sig and is reps arent taking care of you. i always said gun warranty in canada is the biggest joke,

Now that's a real bummer.......The Sig Mosquito I bought has been an utter disappointment and is so unreliable that I won't sell it to anyone. Well, onto the next on my wish list.

The guys over on sigforum have had them for a while now, and I dont think there`s been much of a problem from the reports they been giving.

Maybe vist that sight and see if theres been any reports of this issue with them...SIGs do seem to like being lubed on the heavy side though!

EDIT: just reading on sigforum that there are some issues with installing the .22 kits on some older West German 226 models with serial#s starting with U0 and U1 ( doesnt say what problems occured). This is the only issue Ive been able to come up with so while doing a search for reported problems .
