Most have read the looooong discussions about exports from the US, and imports into Canada. Anyone who has read Shotgun News, or searched the web will have noticed a wide variety of machinegun parts kits for sale in the US. Prices have been as low as 3/$100 for ex-Finn Mk. III Stens. Export/import of machinegun parts is a legal minefield. Apart from demils, dewats, dismantled FA and CA guns, there is no really comparable source of parts in this country. For example, Suomi kits have been sold by Cope's Distributing for $99.95, and an 80% finished receiver, with barrel mount and sideplates has been sold by Prexis. These are US sources. Is there any legal way (on both sides of the border) these components could make it into Canada? Let alone the appropriate magazines?
Anyway, I apologize to NavyShooter for this hijack of his thread. He is, of course, free to delete this and other posts not contributing to his excellent account of his experiences in building and registering an unquestionably legal version of the historic Mk. II Sten.
