Russian SKS45 long thread.

relax fellas , im not surprised at this latest delay .

the russian use cyrillic letters in the serial numbers so that has to be translated (not all) , the receiver may have to have english letters stamped beside it , mine did.

Not required at all for a firearm directly imported to Canada. It's a pretty sure sign of a carbine that came through the US. Look for a very small importer's stamp somewhere on it.

SVTs, Mosins, TT-33 (for the most part- some exceptions) use alpha numeric serials and the Cyrillic letters are frequently dropped by those people verifying them or transliterated incorrectly.

i know , mine came via US ... i wasnt sure if we did the same , thats why i said may . thats interesting that the cyrillic was just dropped like that so what would happen when the numerics become duped?

What is with all the quotations eos and curtton? Are you speaking some sort of secret code? Does this mean the SKS's are on their way?

No codes. General statements about US marking of serial numbers which apply not one whit to Canada and how leaving off the Cyrillic letters when Russian guns are registered here leads to registration delays caused by serial number duplications and short serial numbers.

5 digit or less and no letter serial numbers usually lead to secondary review (delaying the transfer approval) because of the chance of duplication, according to the CFC. This applies to all firearms, not just Russian ones.

Just saw the thread, but it seems like Cableas doesn't have any left, lol.

If anyone gets it and changes their mind... I'll give you $250 for it, as long as it has a nice bore with strong rifling and a good receiver.

PM me if you're interested. I might actually consider more than one. Cheers... :)

Thanks! Let me see... :D

Edit: Nope... I don't see any for sale. So my offer still stands for anyone interested. I own a Norinco SKS-D, but always wanted to have a genuine Russian one to compare.

I did.. this is what I've read yesterday:

First chance to purchase these rifles will be given to any one who has already placed an order with us, until October 6th. After Oct 6 orders will be taken on a first come first serve basis. Rifles will be shipped Mid October. For those who wish to wait for our main shipment, the original pricing will be honored once that container arrives.

First of all, there's no date as to when that info was posted. Also, according to this, the rifles already shipped out in october... It doesn't say anything about any quantities left either and there are no pictures (or at least a description) to know the condition. Overall, the entire website is poorly made and confusing... Does anyone have any inside info on this topic? I'm gonna send them an e-mail and see what's going on currently...
