SL8 or Swiss arms ?
I can't find much differance between the two from the articals i've read.
I would be participating in tactical shooting comps with it and plinking in the bush.
The only differance i've found so far is the SL8 is heavier.
With the right ammo they both shoot under a MOA at 100m

Use the search function here. You'll find tons of threads dealing with both rifles. I don't know too many guys who'd turn down a Swiss Arms rifle for an HK SL8. I've shot the HK, but I wouldn't trade any of my SA's for one, not even with cash to sweeten the pot!

x2 Best money I've ever spent.

Both are heavier than an AR, but the SL8 is lighter than a Black Special. SL8 also has a 1 in 7 twist, so it will work well for heavier bullets. A think most Swiss Arms rifles are 1 in 9 (or 1 in 10?).

Never owned a SA but my SL8 is the best rifle I've ever had. I think there is a better availability for parts for the SL8 and more available upgrades. I'm pretty confident that I could find a part for my SL8 in days should I need it.

Having owned both, I can also say that, when handling the SA, you really feel you are in the presence of a great rifle. The SL8 is nice, but somehow I felt that the price tag was never really justfied. The SA, on the other hand, while more expensive, feels like it is worth the money.

Buy a new/used SA for about $2600 and never look back.

+2.

The SL8, while light is pretty bulky. It's an ok rifle, but I don't know if I'd take it over a Swiss Arms. Something about a plastic reciever doesn't really do it for me.

I'll get one eventually, but it's not at the top of my list.

Thanks for the input.
For years I wanted a SA but last year my friend bought one. He has no problem letting me take it into the bush or to the range, which I have.

I haven't found anything that has swayed my vote either way, other than my wife likes the look of the SL8. At the end of the day $2000 instead of $3000 on a toy and no earache because the wife likes the ways it looks would be money well spent.
She even loves the way someone on here made their SL8 look like its from "Call of Duty".
From all the SL8 owners that have PM me the rifle groups/operates very well. The same goes for the SA owners.
SA vs. H&K = BMW vs. Mercedes , both make good cars

I have both, never had a problem with either one, accuracy is very close between the two unless you are talking the SA Sniper version (it's better). I would recomend either one and buy both again if I had to do it over.

I thought that Heckler & Koch were Mercedes Benz. That they're really VW has disappointed me. :(

Hardly the HK is a beautiful weapon, the SL8 is the best I've ever had or used. The only downside to the HK is the thumbhole isn't ideal for all shooters, I fixed this with a custom stock that I would put against the SA any day. Its all personal preference, a guy who has the SA will say its better and on and on. Both are miles ahead of pretty well any other non res black rifle you can get.

the original call of duty spawned a horde of call of duty games including a futuristic one with robots... go figure

If you're planning on modding the SL8 the cost just became the same. Add up the cost of a folding stock, which the PE-90 already has (about the only folding stock that I like by the way). Add in the HK bipod which again the PE-90 has stock $$$. those two options which are stock with the PE-90 just evened the price out. Considering the PE-90 is $2800 now and not $3000 the SL8 will probably cost you more if you plan on modding it. There is also a "target" version of the PE-90 with a built in picitany rail and flip up sights.

Go to a gun store and handle both. See which one you like. Take the wife with you ;)
