Well some of you know we have had plans to make No jam CNC milled shotgun mag followers for the remington 870/ 1100/1187 and knock offs.
Most of us know that the mag followers in the remington are crap at best, eather old blued steel that rust, or cheap plastic one that crack and split.
Willson combat make a very good after market mag follower, but only work on guns that do not have the mag dimples.
The one we have just made have the cut ont on the side so it will slip over the dimples.
The follower allso has a shaft on the back that sits on the inside of the mag spring to stop of from binding when compressed.
CNC milled from 2" block of " safety orange" dupont delrin.
It will never stick, will not break down with cleaning compound and will not crack.
We made this for the remington 870, but we have tested these on .
Winchester,1200,1300,1400 12ga
Mossy 500a, 590,835, 935 12ga
benelli m1, m2-3 12ga

You found the plug for my air mattress. :)

Man, no more f**kin drilling the mag tubes - what a great idea!!!!! Excellent work!

You'd still have to drill the mag tube if you plan on using an extension since these could rotate inside the mag tube and be out of alignment.

Believe the purpose of the clearance cuts are so they can be used by those who still have dimpled tubes, thereby increasing the potential market.

Good looking product BTW.

OK how do i install this follower in my mossy 500A?

I thought the 500A mag was not strippable.

Thanks!

weird. I've put 1000's of rounds through my shotguns over the years (3 870's 2 mossy 500's, 1 1100) in +45C to -35C and never, ever, once, had an issue with a follower.

am I special?

did u have mag ext. on? these followers are really good for not getting hooked up at the seam.

Just unscrew the end cap, pull the metal spring retainer out and remove spring and follower.

they are not hard on followers in that they damage them.

You are more likely to experience jams with a factory follower and a mag ext. due to the fact that the transition between shotgun tube and ext. tube is not always smooth.

this can result in the follower getting caught on the seam.
aftermarket followers can avoid this with smoother finishes, resistance to breakdown from solvents and longer mating surfaces to keep them from tilting in the tube.

I've never had a jam either, and I dont want to. The factory follower is cheap at best, and for $10 it's a good bit of extra insurance. Same as most things, sometimes an upgrade just gives you a better peice of mind.

but.. I was hoping they'd be that cool hi viz green

A Hi-Viz follower is a good idea for several reasons; foremost is that it more easily allows you to visually and physically confirm the status of the mag tube (loaded or empty), the knob on the follower allows you to physically feel it. Makes the "Peek and Poke' much easier and more certain.

The older Remington followers are thin black plastic and I have seen some in pretty bad shape in several older guns, think i have seen one crack IIRC. In dirty mag tubes I have seen them hang up. These new ones look thicker and stronger and the material is more 'slippery' than the plastic ones as I understand.

Cheers
