M14, LAST SHIPMENT EVER for Marstar!

hey sun and steel

hey i sorry to hear that you got a bad gun but iam happy that you explained
why it was a bad gun. the people i was going to hit are the people that all they say is " norinco are crap" and do not say why. i just want to point out that gun manufacture has and issue with quality control.

A little birdy told me that there are some Canadians working on a mount that will be much better then the side mounting option and not too far off...

I've shot a brand new R700 that out of the box made pretty little 5" groups @50m sandbagged and in the hands of an accomplished shooter. There are bad ducks in every flock.

The thing with Norinco is that they have come a very very long way in the last 20 years and what you're getting in the last 5-10 of those years is generally pretty good and exceptional for the price.

...no worries Delta. The whole reason I'm lurking in this thread is I'm considering purchasing an m-305. Except this time around I will buy knowing full well I may have to work on the firearm. Guess you could say I'm prepared to "take a hit" to own an m-14 clone :p

Cheers,
Mad Mikey:)

Your not taking a hit when you have to work on your M14s.Its called getting one with your weapon. What other weapons platform that is .308 cal and only costs 399.99 is out there that will teach you many different skills and bring you into the brotherhood where you meet alot of really interesting people and have a blast doing it.

...what are these many different skills you speak of  How does owning an m-305 provide me with a different skill-set or make me a better rifleman than owning and frequently shooting my other centerfire "platforms"???

Mad Mikey:rolleyes:

Ahhh Ye wish to hear about the skill set do ya laddy.Well you get to learn:

Degreasing and lubrication.
Sighting 101.(Is my barrel indexed correctly, and will my rear sight hold up or need to be replaced)Had to index 3 out of 4.
Roll pin replacement and the black art of Loctite.
Scrounging 101.Who has a GI stock, where can I find replacement parts since I can't import any from the USA.
How a firearm functions mechanically.(And if it doesn't how too fix it or die trying)
Troubleshooting 101.Hasn't happened to me yet 4 out of 4 function fine.
Scope mounting and why you don't always buy the cheapest scope and mount.
Reloading 101.About the only way to feed it on the cheap.
How to step out of the box and meet interesting people.Show me what other firearm in Canada has people networking like the M14s has. I've met great people in Surrey and in Edmonton also here on this site. I still have a varied interest in other firearms but keep getting pulled back here. And I'm not here to make up your mind for you that's your responsibility.Just want to show you what fun your missing.Later

yup, like Jim says, what other rifle in canada has broght so many fellow cgn'ers together like the norc m14s has?
I've had so much fun hosting clinics at my house I was almost thinkin of starting a western province road trip, much like Hungry's cross canada clinic jaunts. Whaddya think of that idea? :D

Aha.... more new addicts to the M14 who have not downloaded the 2004 Abbotsford Clinic. Yeah, Millwright and Tom, the M14 allows you to meet so many more like-minded M14 lovers from across this super country.

The M14 allows you to learn to tweak your boomstick so that you will understand it better (read: intimate) and you can only make your M14 shoot tighter. No other semi-auto allows that (well  I cannot forget the M1 Garand allows this same level of tweaking) kind of intimacy.

I get a kick out of all the newbs being alarmed at the super expensive price of $ 399 plus del and taxes and then having to work on this rifle. :D They have no idea how much work we had to do in order to get the USGI Israeli Surplus M14's from back in the 1980's to shoot into an inch ALSO!!

They are missing out! Besides, their dicks might fall off (sorry, I could not resist....) No seriously, the M14 is the best bargain today if you are prepared to get your hands dirty (greasy, sliced up, scraped, worn down from the SAGE/VLtor cheese grater stocks. LOL)

For you newbs... download my video RFN (right now) ! What other firearm has this level of support to ensure yer #### don't fall off? :D

I called Marstar this morning, and the dude I talked with (Keith I think was his name) said they were all spoken for, but I could put my name on the waiting list. I asked how big the waiting list was, and he said about a 1/4 inch thick...:(
