You must get a Import Certificate from the Controlled Goods Directorate and Dept of Foreign Affairs as well apply at CDG for a permit to possess and be subject to inspections by the RCMP at there convenience. you will also require a Export Document from China
 
I thought launchers were not considered as firearms, so the rules are different now? Does this mean anyone who possess launchers have to go through all this trouble now?

Yes before the following occured they were non firearms,Those that are in the Canada currently are exempt from regulations except one launcher .Brief history a BC Manufacturer/ Dealer who doesn't advertise on this board got this mess moving by Importing Colt M203 Grenade launchers into Canada with out the Proper DFAIC documents as well as End User Documents , US State Dept Regulations were subverted in the process.

Levi there is an actual AR pistol made that is sold in the US and Canada it did have a 10 rnd mag in the US during the AWB several year ago

It is because you would be using a pistol mag and not a mag for a rifle.
 
Hmm, so its virtually impossible to acquire an genuine military launcher then.

How about asking Norinco to manufacture us some 37mm flare Launchers? I would understand the order volume would have to be large, but I think many of us would snatch them up if it attaches to the T97 and looks like the genuine Chinese military launchers.

Perhaps even ask them if they can make LMT railed M203 copies in 37mm. Those should sell well also.
 
Before you buy or acquire any launcher...

Read what CGN member Strangeday has written about the legal requirement to register with the Controlled Goods Directorate.

He's familiar with this area, and he says the 37mm launcher falls under this requirement.

I "know" that they say not to use the 45 grain hollowpoint Winchester bulk packs in a 1 in 7 twist, but I have to report that I've done it an never had any problems.

Let's not turn this happy thread on the Type 97's into a CGD thread.....there is plenty of space on CGN on a new thread on CGN to beat that dead horse.
