CZ-858 Stock Removal 1/2"Socket

I managed to bust a high end screwdriver trying to take mine off today. Looks like I'm making a custom tool now too..

another CGN member suggested using an old tire iron, i had the tip grounded down to fit the bolt, it was still a struggle but it worked.

i couldn't get that screw undone with a screwdriver. ended up just using my tire iron, worked no problem and didn't cost anything.

I used the same screwdriver I used on the buttstock of my SMLE. It worked fine without resorting to destructive measures

I found that a 24" inch flat tip from Princess Auto worked very well, but I had to grind the tip down until it was flatter and wider than when I bought it. I also has a squared shaft, so a vice-grip came in handy too. The driver was $5.99 at PA.

I bought that very same 24" screwdriver from princes auto, and my vz-58L won the battle. I put vice grips on the shaft, gave it a turn, and snapped the blade of the screw driver off.

Then I read about heating the bolt from inside the reciever, and this kind of made sense. Evil Czech locktight was too much for most hand tools.

I used a screw driver but I had to grind it down to fit the slot correctly. I also had to put a wrench on the end to turn it. The 1/2 socket would have been better, I'd have put an Impact gun on it :D

i used the straight style tire iron from a 96 chev pickup- the socket part has a large flat point on one end that worked perfectly.

i was convinced mine wasn't coming off either, tried the screwdriver, tire iron, heat inside etc. No luck.Made a tool as follows: 1/2" impact driver ( hammer style ), 6 pt 1/2" drive socket attached to the impact driver, 6" x 1/2" chisel in the socket & ground to a flattip bit, 2-3 wacks, done! Anyone in my area need 1 done, PM me, dont destroy a stock, thats admitting defeat..........I cant post pics, but i can email them if someone wants to post.

Holly #### guys , just buy the a flat head bit socket from your local Snap-on Tool truck. They have one that fits perfictly with no play. Its on a 1/2 drive, I bought one for $36 and removed my stock like butter.

The right tool for the job.............

I was thinking of that but, then I saw the price....$36 versus $3. Choice was obvious...:D
